2 stars because it did not catastrophically fail, however, bent the handle and mechanism to be useless after felling just 3 trees. Might as well be from fisher price.

I think whoever makes this cable come a long should have concentrated on making easier controls to release the cable when you need to reset your cable length it’s very hard to operate, it works fine when used but operating the cable release you need both hands very dissatisfied, I would not buy again

Was what I needed, worked perfectly and got the job done in no time flat.

The device design has been around a long time. My issue is that it has not been improved in all that time. The recheting device is the issue. It is to cumbersome to depress the lever and spring while depressing the locking cam. A locking switch at both locations should be adapted preventing unwanted release of cable as well as eliminiating pinching of operators fingers. I have a design if you are interested in improving your product.

Certainly did the job of lifting a 300lb keel and a 1200 lb boat.

Great piece of equipment well made and much heavier construction than I was expecting.

The release mechanism is hard to operate. And one of the two ratchet leavers slips and doesnt engage

Cable was all twisted up on the spool. Had to completely disassemble straighten out the cable and then put it all back together again.

It’s light duty construction so some components bent or needed adjustment after the 1st use. It’s ok but don’t plan on moving too heavy objects. I still recommend it with that consideration in mind.

This come along is exactly what I expected.

A good value for occasional use. However, I found it hard to release the cable to its full extension when setting up for another use.

Horrible tool no proper guidelines on how to operate & didn’t really serve the purpose.

It is what I need except that fact it took so long to get it and now I don't even need. I wish I got it since the day I ordered. This COVID-19 is such a pandemic that affecting many people. But I am happy to own something that I need to use for the future.

worked ok, but switching between pulling and releasing under tension seemed to reveal that the ratchet would not hold up for long. Just seemed to be cheaply made....

The switch on the handle for changing the tension appeared to be almost broken. It was so firm, that I could not easily change the tension. It may have been better after some time and maybe some strategic lube, but I was not happy. In fact, had to use a different tool on the spot, and took this one back to HD.

The 4 ton come a long did what it was supposed to do.

After a few pulls the cable gets jammed in the housing. Poor design.
