Good battery.
The battery was cheaper online that at the store. Overall the set of drills is not excellent but the battery does what I expected.

Battery life - One year :(
After one year of daily charging, one time per day, the battery no longer accepts charge. So I can no longer use the product. I'm going to try a different brand if it will work in my Makita radio. I only use the battery for the radio, & get roughly 4.5 hours of constant play power. Perhaps it's just this compact style, but other reviews are inconclusive.

Great battery & great price
If you have Makita 18 volt cordless tools this is a good way to have a spare battery charges & ready to go. No waiting for package delivery, just hop in the car & pick it up

It is what it is... it's a battery.
We had purchased the drill and needed a second battery to swap out with. The unit gets used off and on about 80 hours per week. The batteries charge quick and are adequate enough to keep us going with several changes throughout the day. We have had the drill and batteries a couple of months now and all seems to be well. There does not seem to be any decline in performance.
The beauty of these are that they are so light weight in comparison to the De-Walt 18V drill/battery we were using. I do not feel they have the torque and power of the De-Walt and the batteries do not seem to hold a charge for as long as the De-Walts, but for the difference in weight (with a lot of the use being above shoulders), it is well worth the effort to swap batteries more often.

Poor Battery
This is the first time I felt the need to write a review about a product. After only six months one of the two batteries stop charging for my drill. The batteries are too expensive for this type of quality. Looking at the other reviews I think this is a hit or miss product. Very disappointed!

Decent price for cordless tool battery
In the day and age of cordless tools for everything, it was nice to find a cordless tool where the batteries don't cost more than the tool. I do electrical and general home remodeling work and I rely on my Makita cordless impact driver and drills. I was tasked with installing a metal roof on a large structure (24X36) and between my drill and impact driver kits I only had 3 batteries. I wanted another so both of us installing the roof could have a fresh one to swap when they ran out. This battery fit the bill. Metal roofs require driving hundreds of 2 inch screws and I didn't want to be left with a dead battery. I never cease to be amazed at how long lithium ion batteries last. I charged up this new battery and it ran for most of that roof on one charge! They make a bigger battery that fits the same tools that lasts nearly twice as long, and is probably a better buy, except it costs significantly more. That's the reason I bought this battery. This is the standard battery that comes with the tools when you buy them and is a good value. My Makita tools and batteries have never let me down. They charge quickly and run a long time. I recommend this battery to anyone who owns Makita cordless tools, and if you don't, you are missing out on a great tool.

How to make it last
I've been using these batteries for four years. I'm a small remodeling contractor and someone one told me never to let them completely die. And if your not using them much charge them at least once a month. Either his advice was good or I got lucky. Hope this helps

Battery does not last!
I had it for just over a year hardly ever need to use it much, once I need to use it the red and green light goes on, the battery is dead , like other customer said Mikita won't do anything, even A's hardware store said Mikita should replace it, because my drill looks like new .
on this review page there are 3 customer said the same thing about the low life battery so how could anyone be such a fool to buy this item.

Unhappy with this product
Similar to many of the other costumers who have written reviews I, too, am having trouble with the battery. I have only had the drill a little over a year and the battery pack is flashing red and green. From what I have read that indicates that it is no longer accepting a charge! This makes me very unhappy considering the new battery will cost over 80 dollars! I am not going to put more money into a battery and product that is likely to fail in another year!I read that Makita will not do anything if it is over the year warranty. Shame on them for not standing by thier products. I will not buy another Makita drill! I had a Dewalt for almost 10 years. That battery and drill was strong during that whole time. Looks like I will go back to Dewalt.

Fantastic product
I work as a professional auto mechanic and have the drill and impact driver, and make use of the impact driver daily. The batteries lasted 8 years of daily heavy use before the plastic casing on the batteries finally came apart from stress cracks due to rough use. I highly recommend these, never experienced any issues, and most people who seem to complain about the batterys dying only use the tools a few hours each month. No battery will last like that.

junk battery
I paid $139.00 for a Mkaita Drill/Driver model # BDF452HW @ Home Depot a couple of years ago, and that included their battery charger and two (2) of these batteries. One of the batteries no longer will charge up at all (red & green lights on charger flash on & off). This is a very common issue w/ these batteries according to many on-line reviewers. Makita will not replace these beyond their 1 yr warranty period, and considering the cost of replacing even one battery, I'm tossing the drill, charger, and the remaining battery in the trash just as soon as the remaining battery fails. Considering that I only use this drill occasionally. such a short battery life, the exorbitant cost of replacement batteries, and Makita's not standing behind their tools, makes Makita's 18volt cord-less tools a very poor value.
I've been a life-long customer of Makita for over 40 yrs, but that's about to come to an end. Chalk this up to just another poor-quality product from China!
note: I challenge Home Depot to include this review here!

Mikita lasts the longest
I have tried all the brands of cordless tools. Makita tool batteries last the longest. I have to replace other brands every couple of years this type of battery has lasted over 5 years. We are buying makita tools exclusively from now on. The batteries are comparable in cost when you figure out how long they have lasted

really like the 1.5ah battery for small jobs
I have 2 of the 3.0ah batteries as well. But for small, quick jobs, having the smaller lighter battery is great. Have had issues with these lithium ion batteries as posted by others, but since educated on how to care for them there life has increased. Very happy with performance

it's a replacement battery
If you own a Makita compact lithium ion drill and your battery went bad, this is your only option. I put my tools through he!!. These batteries last for about a year of regular use(making holes in duct, sinking screws, falling off ladders, etc...) 50 hrs/wk 51 weeks out of the year. Then i just get an error code and the battery won't even take a partial charge. The guys running Dewalts replace theirs at about the same rate. I'm going to try the Ryobi +one kit next time around. See how it holds up.

Battery doesn't last
I had two batteries that bought with the drill. I used my drill about once a month and after a year, both batteries won't accept a charge. I have to buy a new battery because I paid 300 for drill, charger and two batteries.

Not too bad...
First this ad doesn't say this is the 1.5 Ampere Hour battery, which is pretty basic- HD has trouble getting the details right on their website. Second, the on-line price elsewhere is 20% less, w/ free shipping. Third, I had a couple of the early 3.0AH ones go bad- Makita may have improved them by now,
All this having been said, the Makita 18V Li-ion system is great- batteries charge quickly, don't run down even after sitting several weeks, which NiCads do. The tools are very well designed, excellent ergonomics, good value for the price. They're a generation out of date, but they're still the equal of anything on the market. I bought an extra impact driver, just in case the first failed- as a professional, I don't want to be without one.

Amazing performance!
These batteries are amazing! I have been using these batteries in my cabinetry shop for a good 3 years and have not had one problem with them. It's amazing how long they last for how quick they charge. Worth every penny.

$99.00 Listed by Home Deport.com and stated on my receipt as "battery and charger". This price is only the battery. There is no charger whatsoever.
