I purchased a Broan 198 heater about 2 years ago and installed it in a small room over my garage. The room is normally not heated, but when I am going to do some hobby work, I turn on the heater. It works very well at quickly heating up the space, and the fan if fairly quiet. My only disappointment is that the paint is peeling off of the grill (see attached pictures). If it is caused from the heat, I would think that it should have been heat proof paint.

I had an electrician install the heater and an external thermostat. Even though installed as directed I have to press the reset button every time to get it to start.

Had a very old heater that died. This was closet in size and WOW does it blast out heat. Thermostat is easy, hook up was easy.

Purchased this unit - paid to have it professionally installed. The unit trips the reset every time it runs. We reset each time and it continues to trip.

Don't heat as well as I thought it would, but some heat is better than none

I bought this heater thinking it would be a quality product. After three months the blade came off. Notified the company who sent another motor and blade. YEP after three months the blade came off. You can not keep plastic blades on a hot spindle.

Exactly as stated,fits between 16oc stud. Does what it is suppose to do

There's an intermittent rattle while it's running. It's some sort of harmonic vibration, I think. I was going to call tech support about it, but the robo-voice said the wait was 37 minutes. I tinkered with the heater and discovered that the only thing that would make the rattle stop was to put the cover on but *not* screw it down with the four provided screws. I may try fiber washers with the screws; if that keeps the sound away then, at least, I can fasten down the cover.

After working at initial install, neither of the 2 heaters purchased work. They trip for some reason and go off. I paid someone 600 to install these. Very Unhappy.

I purchased two brand new 198 units and both of them have the same issue. If you set them above 70 they will trip on the first cycle. If you have the cover off they operate fine. I contacted technical support and they said perhaps the blower motor which is not the case, you can feel the air with the cover off 10 ft away. There is either a design flaw with the cover restricting airflow or the limit rating is too low. These were costly for me as well because I had new electric ran from the box for each unit on its own circuit.

First heater had a defective fan and kept shutting off. This one seems fine and works consistently. Fan is still a bit loud but heating is good.
