I am not a big Scott's Fertilizer fan but their starter brand is the best product I've found for new lawns. I've used this product on two new lawns and both times I've been impressed with the results. The grass grows very quickly and comes up green and healthy. I absolutely recommend this product for new lawns.
Bird: I just bought a house and the previous owners killed the grass by cutting it to low. There were large bald patches all over. I put Scotts Turf Builder down on Friday around 1830. The following week that Thursday I had around 4 inche tall grass already growing. This stuff is AWESOME!!
Ours is a brand new lawn with new grass. The grass was not what I had wanted and any amount of watering wasn't helping. And then someone told me to try this product. So I jumped on it, bought a bag and went home. I did one application and was surprised to see how effective it was. Within 3-4 days the grass was dark green and started growing like crazy. Had to mow my lawn once a week that's how crazy it went. Note that after application, do water your lawn. And, there were no grass burns as this thing is a slow release fertilizer. I recommend it for anyone looking to change their turf. Worth the money. I used Scotts spreader to spread it.
My lawn was plagued with crab grass for a long time. I didn't know much about reseeding. So I did something about it. I ripped up the crab grass, aerated the turf applied scotts turf builder starter and fertilizer in October of 2015. the winter storm was brutal on my lawn, it got kind of dry. I reseed the lawn and today the lawn is 100% lawn. give and take a couple of weeds, but not crab grass. this product help me get started and fertilized the lawn as well. I have a small area to do as well along the curb. I'm buying this product again. thanks scotts.
scotts starter fertilizer is top quality. their grass seed isn't worth the $$ buy pennington instead. their weed and feed makes the grass look great but the weed killing part doesm't seem to work any better than the generic brands.
