I have a small yard but needed the ability to trim the edges without large equipment. This basic trimmer does just that. The edge guide came off as soon as I first used it and was run over by the mower so no edge guide.

Easy to assemble and use.
So far so good. Only drawback is you have to get replacement spool from manufacturer.

Easy to Use and Very Powerful Weed Eater
This is the third weed eater of this same exact model that I've gone through in five years. I use it twice a month sometimes for up to 8 hours at a time because I have lots of brick paths and edging to do. The motor does not burn up and remains quite powerful but they do wear out eventually. It takes lots of use and abuse and is tough enough for creating little canals at the edge of the yard for the water to go into instead of leaking onto the brick paths and for breaking up those tough little dirt mounds that accumulate when the wind blows and grass grows through. I love my trusty little weed eater and will keep ordering this model for as long as it's made. Great quality, easy to use, and great price. I hope it's never discontinued.

Piece of junk.
The unit came out of the box with the head being loose in the shaft, had about a 1/4 inch play side to side. When I tried to use it the string wound around the motor shaft which left about an inch of line to use as the "trimming" length of the string. This unit is a piece of junk. It is absolutely useless.

This Weed Eater is the best weed eater I have ever bought! It trims great and is very easy to use. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for a competitively priced garden tool.

Great until the string ran out..
This was my first string trimmer purchase. The weight was good and the power was surprising. I used it all the time until the factory installed string ran out. I cannot get replacement string installed correctly. I referred to online directions and when all efforts of independence fail...Dad...and even he could not get the new string to work properly.

I found this product very easy to use
The swivel head on the trimmer made it easy to move back and forth from edging to trimming - great feature!

Good value for the money
This is my third purchase of this model...I have worn out two others in about 7 years. As they age they get a bit floppy (tired joints), and the spool doesn't always advance automatically (I just pull it forward manually), but, for the price I am a repeat buyer...no gasoline noise, and easy to handle.

Even I can't screw this up
I don't have the best track record with trimmers, but I found this one extremely easy to use. I don't know how it knows to let more string out, but it knows. I'm baffled. Also, I caught it on sale, so double bonus!

This was the WORST, most sorry excuse for a grass trimmer I've ever had the displeasure of buying.
Horrible experience. At least you have decent customer service reps, although at this rate you won't need them....... By the way, this was the SECOND one you sent: the 1st one was USED. This second 1 will not feed: both came in boxes with ZERO packing material.

My husband had a difficult time putting on the safety guard
The safety guard didn't snap into place easily. We had this product before and had a difficult time finding string replacement spools, thus we stocked up and had 3 spools when our older item stopped working. The spools are hard to rewind when on just buys the line.

great product
I use this weed eater both as a trimmer and an edger. It is light-weight and I have no problem with it. My only occasional problem is a line that won't feed but these are defective products as another replacement spool will work just fine.

this is a piece of junk, which I'm discovering is more often than not true of black and deck products these days
I'm not sure if this is the same model but what I bought was a b&d corded electric weed eater that was supposed to automatically feed the line without "bumping" the line unit. The first time I used this piece of junk it would not feed the line. so i checked the troubleshooting guidelines and followed them. the first time i dissassembled the line unit one of the feeders was poorly wrapped by the seller, so it was stuck. So I completely reinstalled the lines in the unit. Then I tried again. the line still did not feed. there was a small part that was unclear in the directions about what position it should be in ("if X part is in the wrong position, reposition before reloading the line unit"). So I tried the other position, having to reload the line all over again. Turned the piece of junk on, and it immediately ate up all the line (it disappeared into the housing/line unit). I thought i would give it one more shot. Completely reinstalled the line, reloaded the line unit into the housing, and tried again. This time it seemed to work. The line started to feed like it was supposed to. For 15 minutes. At this point, I was 2.5 hours into maintaining my lawn, and I returned it.

nice for light work
Bought to reduce my grass length so I could mow. It did a great job of that! So the ususal stuff around the yard is a piece of cake compared to the grass! It trims, whacks weeds, etc. Self bump does not work as efficiently as hoped, but overall a good value.

Poor Quality
All the string unwound from the trimmer before I even had a chance to finish my yard. Now I am stuck with a trimmer that I don't know what to do with.

Terrible product, do not buy!
The push button feed does not work. The spool tangles even when it is the original spool. The line breaks about every minute. The cord lock does not hold the cord. The spool caps comes off , especially since you have to manually pull out the string so often. You will spend more time pulling string out than doing the job.

HORRIBLE PRODOCT
One of the worse products I've had the displeasure to use. Used it once. The line did NOT continue to feed and about 1/2 way through was totally lost in the spool. Being returned today.

so far so good
My son says it works great. We shall see how it holds out ogre the summer, but so far, after three weeks, we think it was well worth the price, and it does a good job.
