Hi! We are sorry hear of the issue you are having with odor coming from your Tub Mat We recommend airing out the Mat for a couple before using, the smell will eventually go away. Although we understand that you found the bathmat to be cheap and decent in appearance, you mentioned that it transforms into an ice rink when soap or shampoo gets on it. For best results, rinse the bathmat thoroughly after each use to remove any soap or shampoo residue. In this way, ice-like surfaces should be less likely to form.

If you have not discarded the mat, putting it outside to air out should get rid of the smell.
