This is a fine saw. I've had mine for 17 years and just today it burned up due to "dirty" power or overvoltage (won't know til i meter that outlet at customer's home tomorrow). EVERY tool that got plugged in there blew blue sparks out side of motor casings/vents and only the saw burnt up :/ Came here to price replacing it. I have cut everything construction related with that saw (with appropriate blade) and have never had issue with it other than the cheap plastic "levers" for adjusting depth of cut. It snapped years ago but i tacked a closed end wrench on the nut in the upright position and it functions the same as the plastic lever did. Have to figure out how to get that off now for the new one ;) Anyway, this saw is a fine saw and has hung ALL DAY, EVERY DAY for me doing construction next to my buddies with the twice to three times as much yellow, and blue brands :)

Light duty only
Considering the number of Skil Saws that I have seen in use by friends and family that are well over 30 years old, this one did not last 5 years.
I has had a few hours and some tough jobs (sawing brick), but I was very disappointed with the longevity.
I would spend a few more dollars and buy a better model SkilSaw.

Great Buy for the Money
Bought my last Skil saw 35 years ago. Time for a new one. Home Depot didn't have the item in the store, so we ordered on line. Quick and easy. Delivered right to the door. Same quality 35 years later.

Good price-quality homeowner saw
So far the saw is doing great. We have a deck to build soon so I will update after a few days of hard work on the saw.

Good tool for a fair price.
My last Skill Saw quit after 40+ years of service, so I bought another that should last until I'm 6 feet under. I'm using it on pressure treated 2"x8" boards and it does a great job. Doesn't have all the features of a more expensive saw, but It's good for the average DIYer. Easy to adjust.

don't waste your money
Don't waste your money. Just returned this saw. Read other posters who commented on how poorly this saw cuts, that is an understatement.

Don't waste your money.
Seriously was disappointed about this saw. I ended up returning a Bosch saw because the levers were cheap and unreliable, then I picked up this saw, a huge mistake. It makes awful cuts in wood, and then couldn't even get through the wood. the blade would stop halfway through the cut. Not even functional. I ended up returning and getting the Rigid Saw. The rigid is on a whole other level. It was amazing. Do not buy this saw unless all what you're planning on building is pinewood derby cars, which is still a stretch.

5 minutes to cut a 2x4
I'm not sure if the saw is just of horrible quality, too low of amperage, or if the anti-kickback clutch on this saw I got was over-reacting, but it literally took 5 minutes just to cut through a 2x4, the clutch stopping the blade every 5 seconds of that. I'm returning the saw tomorrow and plan on spending an extra $50 for a quality saw.

Got what I needed!
If I used this saw for a living I might buy a more expensive one but I don't, so used it for its intended application.
I had a refurbished Skil circular saw for years and it finally gave out while cut'n through some concrete in 108 degree weather. No brainer to buy another Skill, worked like a champ, finished the job like a pro.
If you know how to use this saw properly it will serve you well for many years to come . . . no doubt.

Good Saw for the cost
I use this for DIY projects and it has worked well. I framed my entire basement with this saw and it is still going strong. The motor has stalled a few times during a cut which is why I gave it 4 starts, but it has always made it through the cut. I dont know what more you can ask for a saw of this price.

won't last
I never seen a saw give out so quick. Had to install a security door and needed to cut through 3/4" board to increase the opening. Gears stripped and the blade stopped spinning right away. I had to make any cuts EXTREMELY slow to to finish the job. Encountered only one nail prior to the gears stripping. Would have been much better off with the cheaper Ryobi.

No complaints, reliable saw
I've been using this saw for about a month while renovating my attic, and really have no complaints. It's been dependable thus far, with some pretty tough work (cutting an opening through the roof for a new ridge vent).
It's comfortable to use. I really like the fold-out plastic guide on the front of this model, it's been handy.

Great Saw!
Great saw for the price. No issues installing the blade as mentioned by another reviewer. Liked the blade that came with the saw. Like a hot knife through butter. The carry case that was included was a nice touch too. Would give it an excellent, but haven't had the saw long enough. Time will tell.

Get what you pay for
Spend a little more and get a reputable model. I wanted to try and get by on the cheap and the saw did not last through the first cut.
Directions saw to finger tighten the bolt attaching the blade and then use the wrench to tighten 1/8 turn or 45 deg---doing that or any more or less still activates the clutch and you have a blade that doesn't spin---and folks without a spinning blade you don't rip any boards.
Most of my equipment is older--those models had a button or key that prevented the blade from moving as you tighten the nut---this is the first I've ever seen that without that (perhaps that's a new thing--although my Stihl whacker still employs the same sort of tech to stop the mechanism from turning while you tighten the nut).
Guess I should have kept the receipt. Do yourselves a favor and drop 100 on a good saw...don't fall for the head fake on the 59 dollar special.
