Not very effective at grinding porcelain.

I have used this tool twice - it is awesome. Then the charger quit. It appears there is a problem with the Battery fit into the charger (loose). Once inserted a little off it bends the contacts on the battery and charger rendering them useless. Has this been resolved?

The charging base (#856-02) to my Dremel 8000 rotary tool has suddenly stopped working. I've also recently replaced the rechargeable battery after the first one failed following perhaps a couple of dozen charges.

The tool is one of my favorite. Also have one with the cord that I like also, but the cordless is just awesome. Charger has quit working now. Seems to be a common problem.

Thought it was just me. Charger failed. Rarely used the lithium 800 dremel- it charged it maybe 10 times. Then- I believe- a pin broke. Not misused or mistreated in anyway Love the dremel. Love the attachments. Love the battery. Hate the charger. Dremel is a phenomenal company and I trust they'll make it right. I'll update my review if they do.

I've been using Dremel tools since the 80's. I never had an issue with the corded tools other than that cordless would, of course, be so much easier to use. I was surprised when the charger just stopped working. I couldn't find the correct model (856-02) available anywhere but directly from Dremel and then I see that many others are having the same problem. Has anyone purchased a replacement charger and did it break down within a few years as well?

Had the tool for about a year with light use. Generally use it for polishing and trimming my dogs nails. All of a sudden the charger isn't providing a charge any more. Shame too. The charger looks new and I haven't even been thorugh all the accessories that came in the kit.

The unit itself works well, however after a few full charges the charger stopped working. Not worth buying!

GREAT TOOL...BUT UNFORTUNATELY THE CHARGER HAS QUIT WORKING. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON NEGATIVE TREND AMONG MANY UNHAPPY BUYERS. FOR A BIG NAME LIKE DREMEL...ONE WOULD EXPECT A MORE DURABLE PRODUCT.

i had 800 dremel for a few years only need when electric can be used havent charged very often now geen lite wont come on. have other brands cordless tools and never have i had a charger go bad either faulty or cheaply made

Love my Dremel but do not want to buy another charger, again, especially with so many other cordless options out there. Not to mention it's impossible to find one anywhere locally. Frustrated and don't know what to do.

Let me add my voice to the chorus. I'm delighted with the tool ––my first Dremel. The charger has died inexplicably.

I bought one of these and liked it so much I bought three more for Christmas presents for relatives. At least two of the four chargers have failed (mine and my dad's). The other two I don't know about. Very disappointed. How can I give it a good rating when the charger compromises the whole system?

Bought the Dremel Battery driven tool and I admit this is a great tool. The charger, however, leaves much to be desired. Only after two uses the charger failed. I've been uses my HiTec X4 to carry out my charging needs ever since.

The dremel tool is great but the charger failed after 2 charges. I wish I would have looked at the reviews before buying this product with the mentioned charger

Like other reviewers the tool is working great. The charger just quit working though. I have had the tool for years and done quite a bit with it. When the charger stopped I came here to look at the product page but found all the negative reviews. I would recommend the tool but not the charger!

The battery has only been recharged three times and either the battery or the charger has quit working. The tool worked great but due to charging issue, is useless.

I've used the battery charger once on the 856. Went to charge the battery again and it will not work. Based on the other comments I see on this same issue, this is not an isolated instance. Debating on whether replacing the charger is wise or a complete new tool purchase is wiser. Sounds like this should have been handled like a recall. The tool itself is great but if I can't reliably charge it, what good is it? 

Charger quit working. Prior to quitting had to deal with slow charge and hard to load. Would not recommend. Owned Dremel tools in past and been happy with performance.

I have had this kit for several years and the tool works great, have used it in many many applications. The only problem has been the charger, to begin with it became nearly impossible to get the battery unplugged from the charger ??? I was able to align the little strips so the battery could be removed, it worked fine for a while, now either the battery is bad or the charger, I believe it is the charger as I don't get a green light on the charger when I plug in the battery.....I love the tool but the charger seems to be cheaply made.

We're on our third battery charger for this tool. Avoid this tool based on the charger reliability.

Tool works very well but the battery charger failed after a few months rendering the tool useless. Very disappointing from a company that has produced consistently good products for so many years.

The tool is really good and works well. Unfortunately the charger has stopped working. The fuse in the plug is fine, and the battery, its just the charger.

I have been a happy Dremel cordlesss model user models 800, Stylus (2) and the new Micro. I have also had a half dozen corded models over the years. My 856 charger just gave up even though the 800 is still going strong - it sounds like this is a systemic issue. Is there anything I can do?

The circuit board fried after 4 months of use. Really bad design.

I have had this only a few years and mine too is completely dead. As with other reviews, the tools works well, but this charger is a piece of junk. I am considering replacing the entire unit with something other than Dremel because I am not sure I want to give them my business if the chargers are all bad.

I have a number of rechargeable power tools I have been using over the past 30 years. All of them still work, though one (famous brand) battery is starting to take a short charge. The Dremel tool is great, but the856-02 charger just plain died in less than a year of light use!!

Purchased a dremel kit a year ago. Just got around to using it a few days ago. Charged the battery one time. Went to charge it again and charger died.

Same as many other review but mine may be the 856 not the 856-2. Either way, still doesn't work.

I have had only few dremel over 45 yrs. The reason being the dremel itself is quality! Dont need to replace. WHY WHY then do they make a junk charger (or battery??) Is that where they are trying to get us to spend??? I have countless chargers & betteries in my drawer , all useless.
