This truly is a great product and the dogs love the freedom of being able to go in and out as they please. They also very much enjoy standing by the door and just stickkng their head out to see whats going on. We are constantly yelling at kids again lol. Glad we purchased this product. Batteries in the collar last about 4 months so make sure you stock up. They so spoiled now amd get upset when the battery dies. Lol

Overall, the door was a good purchase for our dog. The fact that the collars use proprietary batteries only is a little annoying due to cost, but not terrible. The biggest problem for the door is cold weather. As it approaches freezing, the door sticks and won’t close on its own. It keeps opening and this puts wear on the motor, allows cold air in, and leaves the house unsecured. No amount of loosening the mounting screws makes a difference.

We got this dog door to make sure our toddler didnt go through the dog door whem we arent looking and to keep outside critters outside. Its worked great so far after a month or so. Make sure to install close to an outlet. Two possible improvements: one) add a exterior flap to it to protect against the elements better, and two) include a conduit cover to hide the cord. I wish it was cheaper, but would recomend.

This was the best thing I invested in for my dog. He has been using it daily (multiple times a day) for 2.5 years and we have had no problems. The batteries do die every 2-3 months but I bought a backup collar and have extra batteries on hand. I agree that the collar needs work; when I switch the battery I put a strip of duck tape around the collar so it stays together. Works like a charm. My dog is a 75 lb Shepard with high energy and there’s been no issues with the collar. I can leave his door on all night without worry of critters getting in. Seriously this is amazing!!

We just installed this in a wall which was a little challenging to get everything lined up but using the optional wall tunnel simplified things. Two out of three dogs figured it out right away. So much nicer not having to get up every time they want to go out. Seems to be working great and is very quiet.

Looks great. Easy to install and set up. Both dogs able to became accustomed to automatic door mechanism quite easily and were comfortable with it in minutes.

It's only been in operation for a week now, but so far so good. My 11 month lab learned it quick. I didn't like the little collar, so mounted the remote on his regular collar with zip ties. I also tried to cover any exposed wires or knobs to prevent him from chewing them Up. I'll probably buy the battery, although power outages aren't usually an issue. Easy install, after the hole is cut.

We have not regret buying it . Is has been a huge relief..no more running home to let them out nor waking us up to let them out. Small problem at the beginning. I call the company. It was a matter of untight the screws. They claim most men use a power drill that makes it to tight. That solved our problem. Since then it has been awesome!

Very easy installation. Took only about half hour. My two dogs figured out how to use the door instantly. This really helps keep the cold out. The old "flap" type dog door just let too much cold in. Only suggestion would be to redesign the collar transmitter. We ended up fastening them to their regular collar.

While the concept is awesome, the install was easy. It worked for a day and then all of all of a sudden it just kept going up and down. Tried everything the book said to do. So next step to call but oh they are only there until 4pm. That doesn't help anything. Those who work can't take off so they can walk thru a process on the phone. I wish it worked because I was super excited about it. Gonna return it, as it's not worth those a thousand dollars over.

The door installed okay and worked well for the first week. Now the door opens, closes and continuously cycles up and down non-stop. I have tried to contact the company to resolve the issue. However the only phone option is to leave a voice mail as they do not answer the phone. I have now left eight voicemails over the last eight days and unable to speak to anyone at the company. At this point my only option is to return the door for a refund.

I'm a tech nerd with 2 dogs, I disassembled the door to add a custom controller I designed for integration with my home automation. It grants me real-time access to door settings, and statuses. I even incorporated logic to halt exits during rain, preventing muddy paw prints, it tallies door opens, limiting my dogs to 3 exits per hour. In just 8 days, the door averaged 71 daily openings/day – 26,000 annually! We're thrilled with its performance and highly recommend.

I bought the door and at first was a little disappointed because the door seemed a tad bit small but it worked so I was happy. But it had only been a month and the door won't even open. I'm going to contact Customer support when I can but I'll still be without a dog door for at least a week and just hope it works next time?

First off Got the big door. Not cheap but we got another dog after 17 years and decided to completely remove all of our door responsibilities. as far as the door idea it's amazing however the device that the dog uses is honestly junk and recently the dog door opens from the outside but not the inside it's not even 3 months old ordered a new dog device can't buy the junk anywhere in a store order and wait mean time dog is messing on the floor because it doesn't open my suggestion if any of the team members that run this company stop making this product such a painful experience to deal with not sure I would buy it again homedepot should at least sell the ridiculously expensive batteries and junk dog device if they are going to sell this product at all

As other reviewers have said, I WANTED to love it. Even with the sensitivity controls, it opened frequently when it shouldn't or didn't open when it should. Biggest deal breaker was the issue of it glitching after a couple passes and getting stuck open. Since there are only 2 sizes and we had to go with the large, you have a VERY large opening stuck open with a glitch. As others stated, it re-sets by turning it off but if the point is for the dog to have access when you aren't home - it can't be re-set until you get home. This problem isn't solved with the wifi door since you have to be on same network (at home) for the phone app to work. Even if it wasn't a huge security risk with a large door stuck open, unwanted animals will get in much easier with an open door than a flap. Bottom line- it's a return.

Four star because the first door I received was defective. I recommend verifying that the door works before caulking and sealing the interior side of the door. Fortunately, after the first door had been installed, I was able to easily replace the interior side with the replacement that the company sent directly. My dog loves the door. I will probably upgrade it with the battery so that it will work if there is a power outage.

Only wireless access collar is large. I have a 5lb dog and wanted the large door for when his dog friends come over. He won’t be able to wear that. Should be an option for entrance.

Started going crazy and opening and shutting with no collars around. Had to unplug it

Our dog is still adjusting but with treats is doing well with her new door. We had a different door that swung open but would capture her tail and scare her. This is great

WHO LET THE DOGS OUT? This door did! No more getting up to let the dogs out. No more locking them in a kennel while you're at work all day! They come and go as they please. This is my second door. My first one's motor died after 9 years! We decided to just get a new one. It's a game changer!

Would recommend to anyone with a furry friend, I have bought this brand door for 20 yrs, little pricey ,but well worth it, pretty rugged my dog must go out at least 25 -30 times every day, he is a 90 pound Aussie and large is just right for him.

Bought Jan/22 for 2 large breed dogs. Tested out at -36C, did not freeze up, very little heat loss. Dogs love it. Very secure.

This is the second electronic door I have purchased from HIgh Tech Pet and am very happy with the performance and easy installation of the door.
