The base is not flat, about 1/8 inch, causing the saw to wobble on the track. I purchased two, and both were the same. I've checked the xgt model and the base is flat. It's disappointing. I've been running makita tools for years, both professionally and home use. I've never had an issue until now. Luckily HD is easy with returns.

Forget about all those other saws, it's time to get the one and only saw you may ever need. It is light,can sit flat on any surface , has plenty of power. . Most importantly it cuts like butter and leaves the cleanest cuts in those expensive plywood purchases and is accurate to the nth degree. I read all the reviews and watched the videos and until you hold it and use it well.... you will see that it is awesome Other things to note: The case is a large cube like box that has plenty of room for guide rail clamps. Dewalt rail clamps work well with this rail. The rail has blue anti friction like surface strips that let the saw slide smooth and easy. Underneath the rail the rubber strips hold tight to the work surface and prevent the need for clamps but I use the clamps just to be safe. Use a a shop vac with this saw and there is little to no dust. I like this saw so much, I keep inventing ways to use it. Home Depot has the price about what it was selling for almost a year ago. I think that most people are finding that this saw is as good if not better than Fess Tool, and for this reason it is getting harder to find a good price for this saw. So I would not delay and get one ASAP.

I read about 50 reviews about the saw on different sites. Should have paid attention to the bad ones. The saw came in a big box from Home Depot with no cushioning of any kind. The Makita container had very awkward latches on four sides. You could break a finger trying to open it... But here is the worst news: the saw is loose inside! no straps, no holders, no styrofoam even! Did I buy a precision tool or a big rattle toy??? The saw did not cut square. Took a lot of power to push it on guide rails. Blade was burning the wood on one side. After cutting two sheets of 8x4 melamine boards blade was useless. The angle scale was off by about 3 degrees. The angle of a finished cut was 87degrees on one and 92 on the second one. Release button had to be wiggled to push. Thanks to HD return policy I was able to get my money back. Got the Festool instead and could not be happier! It was worth the extra $200 and some.

The saw is great. I’ve used it on several jobs and have been very satisfied with the results. Running large sheet material through a table saw has always been a safety concern. The track saw resolved that issue.

Saw glides very well on track. Smooth plunge unlike the awkward plunge on the dewalt. Only improvement would be a longer cord. Overall it’s worked amazing for completing my finished stairs.

If you are on the fence about buying this saw...save your back and buy this. It's great for breaking down sheets of plywood. I use the Diablo blades and I've gotten better than factory cuts with this. I love the scoring pass for UV pre finished plywood.

Saw does a nice job of cutting up plywood. I just got it so I can't comment on its longevity.

Easy to use , smooth and accurate

Marketing verbiage from Makita for this product states it makes precise cuts. To me, that means I should be able to make square cuts. In fact, I would assume most users typically make square cuts. I have taken my saw to the Makita Support Center and even with it out of warranty, they tried to fix, but couldn't get it to cut at 90 degrees, so they didn't charge me. Now, I'm waiting to see if Makita will do anything about it. Don't buy this saw IF you need square cuts.

This thing is GREAT. The cuts are so accurate that it takes the place of my table saw. Highly recommend it.

Easy to use and works great for what I purchased it to do. I like it better than my table saw. It won’t replace the table saw, but will cut down using it. Easy to change locations

Very pleased with the accuracy of this Makita Plunge Saw and the excellent service I received at The Home Depot. The saw is very easy to set up and use. I love the simple adjustments on the tool that make the movements very precise. I recommend this Plunge Saw if you want to take your woodworking to the next level!

The track saw was fairly easy to set up and use. The cut through 2 inch cherry was fairly precise or precise enough for my requirements and the depth of cut adjustment was easy enough to understand. My only nitpick is that I wish the manual was larger and had more information or tips on set up. Despite a clean cut, I still experience some saw marks on the cuts of the side grain. A hand plane cleaned up the saw marks quickly. I think the saw marks indicate that further fine tuning is required, and that's why I gave it 4 out of 5.

Awesome track saw for the price. Very accurate and powerful. Glad I finally made the decision to get one.

One the most useful tools I have ever purchased. Been able to get very precise and clean cuts with this saw. It is a joy to use and produces very little saw dust when attached to my dust collector.

This has been an incredible saw. Clean, straight cuts with the thin kerf blade. Used it heavily over the last months on plywood, creating a straight edge on ash boards for milling, and many other tasks. Bought the Makita tracks with it also, and they make a great pairing! Only complaint is that it occasionally shuts itself off mid-cut, which causes blade shift and marring of the edge. Contacted support, but have to find time to take it to one of their depos. Prefer Dewalt’s approach with using shipping mechanisms and exhanges as it is much more efficient.

I’ll start with the only thing that I wish it had…no riving knife but it has anti-kickback capabilities and honestly for straight-lining stock you would rarely if at all need it. The rest of the story…plenty of power, very precise and Makita makes a track that is over 8 ft in one piece which was important to me for making barn doors and such. The cord is nice and long and the case is adequate. I just don’t have anything bad to say about it and I am 153.5% happy with it and would buy this exact one again. It’s a very high quality tool and you won’t regret it. It has become a staple in my shop and the table saw has seen less use these days.

After years of using a clamp on straight edge and my old Milwaukee circular saw I went for this Makita track saw. Flawless and accurate cuts every time. Wish I would have bought this a long time ago. If you’re breaking down sheet goods with any regularity this saw is a mist have. Considered the Festool but glad I saved the $200 by buying the Makita.

A little less expensive than other popular brands but with similar quality and features. I’m very happy with this purchase.

I needed to accurately cut a straight line on a large butcherblock countertop and figured I could use a straight edge and circular saw. After realizing the base plate of my saw was warped, I decided to purchase this. I wish I had bought this years ago! Great product!

I was looking for something of higher quality than a Kreg, without breaking the bank like Festool. This saw fits wedged in between those two perfectly. Even with the stock blade, I get finish-worthy cuts that make breaking down panels a cinch. The dust collection is fantastic; after covering the arbor hole with some tape my shop remains dust free. For those who are used to a circular saw for breaking down sheets, this alone makes it worth it.
