Seems like a manufacturing issue with bracket. See attached picture. Top bracket, the area next to "hooks" is curvy. Bottom bracket, I filed down just a bit and although it did fit better, I am not so sure how well it will hold.

Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, we have reached out to the vendor and their reply, "We have taken a look at your review with the picture of the EB-0096-12BRZ single track shelf bracket. The two “curvy” parts of this bracket that you noted are actually a critical part of the design of the product called a friction lock and not a manufacturing issue/defect. That specific part of the design allows the bracket to bite into the standard/upright and seat firmly when the bracket is tapped down into place using a rubber mallet or hammer. This keeps the bracket seated firmly in place and eliminates any wobble of the bracket when installed properly. You had also mentioned that you filed part of this feature down on the inside of both bracket teeth to try and make them easier to install. That may have made it easier to get the product to seat when installing it without tapping it down into place using a rubber mallet or hammer, but it is not recommended you ever modify the bracket in that manner. That modification you made removed the friction fit locking feature and is allowing your modified bracket to wobble and dislodge easier than it was designed to allow. We are sorry to hear that you had difficulty installing this product and would like discuss your installation with you further to see if we can be of further assistance.

It was okay but could move side to side which made me nervous esp with a load on it. I had a wall on one side which limited the lateral movement. That said, I only bought the brackets and not the vertical standards which they hung on. I assumed these would fit my existing ones which I believe should be universal.

Put up shelves to display vintage toys. After a few weeks the top shelf fell breaking several items because the brackets do not slide down and lock. I see the response from the manufacture on other reviews with the same issue with the bracket falling out that they need to be hammed in place for a locking fit. My response would be to the manufacture, put a BIG sticker on the brackets to hammer them in place. I have used these types of brackets for years and have never had to pound them in place, they have always slid down in place easily. Lesson learned too little too late

Great Bronze Finished Adjustable Shelf Solution
I recently was looking for a simple adjustable solution to store all sorts of stuff in a catch-all closet in my home. I was helped by a store employee that showed me the adjustable shelving section of the store and helped me find this bronze painted product. Since this closet will be storing everything from home office supplies to board games and spare blankets, I went with this single track system that they told me would do the job (both the store employee and my research online). I made sure to install a single track upright on 16" stud centers as it is recommended and made sure to tap down the brackets with a small hammer to lock them in place. My 6' wide closet took me a little less than 45 minutes to do everything from installing uprights, to putting the brackets on and then getting the shelving in place. I only put the I used the 48" uprights for this project since I was only installing them in the upper part of my closet to accommodate larger storage in the bottom of the closet (card table chairs, boxes...). I wish my store or homedepot.com had a 5' or 6' version of this upright so I could use it in one of my other closets now that I know what to do. These brackets are not wobbly as I see in some other reviews. I believe the trick to making sure they are in secure is to tap them down into place as is in notes/comments on this and several other websites. I am very happy with this product and plan to buy more now that I have this project under my belt.

Keeps falling off the standard
When we set the bracket into the single track standards, they kept falling off. We thought that maybe when the shelves and the weight of the books gets placed on the bracket, it will secure itself in the standard holes better. No dice. I put four books on the wood shelf and the shelf and brackets fell right off. I'm not sure why they don't fit well, the bracket and standards were displayed side-by-side at the store.

Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, we have reached out to the vendor and their reply, "We are sorry to hear of your difficulty when installing the EB-0096-12BRZ into the single slot standards/uprights. In order to properly install these brackets, you will need to use a rubber mallet or hammer to tap the brackets down at the base to get them to seat firmly into place. This friction fit design helps prevent your brackets from accidentally coming dislodged or wobbling. Please try this additional installation step to secure your brackets more firmly to the standards/uprights. This may take an extra few moments to install them, but is worth the time to make sure these brackets are locked into place for safety and stability… just as they were intended.
