This is the first CFL that fits my swivel floor lamp. See low-light picture. It is a tight fit - but it works. Also, this is the first spiral CFL I've seen that has two tubes - similar to the 3-way incandescent it replaces.

This Phillips CFL with its 50-100-150W equivalent rating provides more light than any of the lower output 3-way LED bulbs that are currently available. Most customers will need the harp (shade support) extensions that Phillips includes with the bulb to raise the harp enough to accommodate the dual tube construction of the bulb. For lamps with a heavy shade, customers may need to purchase a taller harp.

The only problem I encountered was that I needed to special order this size bulb as it was not on the shelf on the store.

One position on the 3-way doesn't work but I think that is a function of the lamp. The bulb is very large but did fit my lamp harp, just barely. Shipping was a problem - it was mailed in a small box which was partially squashed, with only one sheet of bubble wrap as cushioning. However, the bulb was happily undamaged.

Shipping was fast and free because I bought six bulbs. The price was very competitive too. I have been unsuccessfully searching for very bright CFLs at numerous stores, including Home Depot. I regret that many stores don't carry them. Especially since the only bright LEDs I can find are floodlights or spotlights and bright incandescent lights have been outlawed.

Compared to a 3-way incandescent bulb the cfl type is not as bright even though it's the same wattages as the incandescent.

Light bulb fits standard outlet but the bulb is too large/long to fit lamp stand. Even though the bulb comes with "halo" extenders, they are plastic and the frame popped off every time you turn the lamp on or off.

Instant on and good color temperature ("Soft White"), but this thing is huge! Fortunately, it does come with a pair of harp extenders so I was able to get it to fit into the intended lamp, but there are many lamps in which it would not fit. I would suggest that you find a smaller bulb.

Exactly as the summary says, the bulb barely fits my lamp, but it works beautifully and the color is just that lovely warm glow of a standard incandescent bulb.

Worked well for a while. But after just three weeks, it failed with a loud pop when turning it off. Just e-mailed Phillips for replacement. No idea if this is common or not, but not a great first impression. Also understand that the bulb is fairly large and may not fit some table lamps well.
