As a cat5 cable, this gets the job done. But as another reviewer mentioned, the latest batch of this stuff has terrible colors. The colors aren't very sharp, especially with the striped wires, which makes for a fun time when it comes time to punch these down or crimp connectors. I had bought a box of this stuff about 3 years ago, so I was able to compare it with one I purchased several weeks ago. The old cable used wires with very deep colors that were easy to make out. The new wires are almost translucent.

I have used hundreds of feet of the Southwire Blue 24/4 Cat 5e cable around my home. From the attic to the basement. I swear by it. Very tightly wound cable pairs. Terminates easily to keystone jacks or RJ45 terminals. Great for home networking. A bit expensive but worth the price for the piece of mind that I get with excellent quality cable. Handles up to Gigabyte speeds. Great for video streaming of Netflix and others

Yea, I got the 1000 ft box and the wire colors are barely distinguishable. Use a good light to separate colors. When I first began untwisting the brown pair, the solid "brown" wire looked as if it has no insulation, but it had a very thin insulation jacket. It will do in a pinch, but I will not recommend it.

I wish the insulation was more resistant to kinking.

Rather thin jacket so it will kink easily. After installation the network works well.

Cable coiled up and could not use

Kinks very easily (potentially damaging kinks), the bag is a poor dispenser for 250' of cable - a very simple box would be a much better option.

The last few times I've bought cable from Home Depot there has been 200ft+ burnt off the box and they still charged me full price. I need full boxes of cable... This creates a huge inconvenience.

Very hard to unravel and roll out. For that kind of money for only 250 feet it should have been in a box

Some kinking while pulling. No easy length measurement on cable. Must pull out the bottom cable end and subtract the measurement on the other end. Time Consuming when pulling seversl thousand feet of cable.

The 250’ package of plenum rated riser cable was perfect for the drop I needed to run through the plenum return ceiling.

Good affordable plenum grade Cat5e cable for any home or office. It will kink up on you if you're not careful but pretty much all cable would have the same result. I use this cable for all of my installs because it is readily available.

I bought two of this boxes for an small project and the main problem qith this wire is that every other time it get tangle inside or with the natural loops of the cable, so it is not easy to work with it. I used a Qualification cable from Fluke Networks and it pass all the specifications. Ok.

I could not get smaller than a 1000' roll anywhere on the island. Home depot was perfect 250'.

Product is not as advertised, It is listed as 600 volt rated, but unfortunately for those that purchased it and installed and needing the 600 volt rating for the safety of their customers, it is actually only good for 300 volts, it would appear. Fortunately I was suspicious enough to try and verify the claim before I installed it in a raceway with high voltage wires.

Bends easier than it pulls out the box. OK if you are pressed for time.

Cable is easier to terminate than most and less expensive. However, this is probably due to the weak nature of the cable. We had a couple runs that broke internally on one or more pairs when pulling this cable. Take extra care when pulling and leave at least 2 slack areas, especially at corners and you should be fine. This cable would be ideal for small office installations or when access to cabling area is very open (new construction). I would NOT recommend this cable for pulling long runs in areas that are tight with corners or through existing conduit without plenty of empty space.

This product was received as advertized, CAT5e plenum grade cable. After pulling and punching over 400 feet of cable, all ports tested with no issues.
