Pros: Lid works great. The bottom closing feature works well and prevents spillage. Motor is well designed and heavy duty. The hopper material is strong and rugged. The metal fittings are heavy duty. Cons: Need to caulk the seam between the top and bottom half of the hopper to prevent leakage. Also need to drill and add 6 bolts between the existing 6 in order to keep the seams of the hopper from warping and leaking. The motor is either on or off so there is no controlling the speed and therefore the distance of spread. I am working on adding a rheostat to the power cable in order to control the speed. The adjustment arms for seed size are not calibrated in any way so you have to waste seed in a trial-and-error mode to determine how much it needs to be open for the amount you want. I am making a calibration chart so I will know in the future but the manufacturer should have done this as part of the instructions. Speaking of which, the instructions are pretty useless. The images seem to have been photocopied so many times that you cannot see them. I had to call 4 times to actually get the thing assembled. There is so much play between the 2" receiver adapter and the main bracket that you need to add 4 washers inside the tube to keep it from moving side-to-side. There is no way to control which way it spreads so it goes 270 degrees or left/right/rear. I am adding removable side plates to block the spreading to one side or the other in order to use it along roadways and not spread seed on the road. The 2" receiver hitch adapter, although adjustable, is way to short for my Bobcat 3400XL/Polaris Ranger. I had to buy an 12" extension tube and even then it just barely fits. Lastly, the customer support is abysmal. It takes days to get them to answer the phone and the young guy who answers, although very polite, doesn't know anything and has to keep going back-and-forth to another guy to get answers instead of just putting him on the phone. As you can see, I have had to do a lot of work to get it to actually be usable, but I bought it because it really is heavy duty, just not well thought out. Now that I have modified it, it works great!

Assembly instructions are absolutely useless. Better off looking at a picture of the seeder already assembled and guessing how plates are to be mounted. Still not sure what mounting bracket the instructions reference. There is not an extra bracket included in the box and the picture is unclear to see if it exists. Assembly should not be a trial and error process.

The product came with terrible instructions ..it doesn't have settings for the new style seed size adjustment. It was advertised as ready to go for 2inch reciever but there was no adapter for two inch reciever

Needed a new way to spread salt on walkways in the winter. This has worked great so far.

I used this once to sow small grass seed mixed with sand it ate up the spout but could still use. The second time I was going to use it. I put it on the back of my utv and when I arrived at the site the bolts in the bottom of the hopper had broken through. This is not a good unit to purchase.

I purchased this to replace a real fertilizer spreader. Although this will in fact broadcast fertilizer there is no true control on the amount spread. I imagine this works well spreading corn for deer but would highly discourage the use of this piece of equipment for yard work.
