Ordered 2 of these for our bathrooms a 7watt night puts out more light during the day than these do. Very disappointed to say the least.

It was somewhat difficult to get the tubing to line up correctly with the roof and ceiling flashings. The dimmer remote is a great feature.

These tubular skylights will serve me for many, many years. I now have five of them installed in my home. One without the solar-powered dimmer is in the bathroom. The four with solar-powered dimmers are in the living room and one in each bedroom. I will be able to reduce electricity each time I need to enter a room because I no longer need to turn a light on. However, I love the fact that I can just point the remote device toward the skylight, and the shade covers the skylight. Instant darkness! Great for watching movies and/or taking a nap. I don't believe these tubular skylights will ever develop a leak - and they provide just the right amount of light. Wish I had installed them sooner. Only complaint is that it is extremely difficult to peel the film off the mirrored interior where the sections are joined in a v-groove. Just cannot seem to get all the film out of there - and that makes it very difficult to adjust the tubes to meet in the center. ODL needs to manufacture these slightly differently - just peel back about 3/4 inch of the film before crimping the v-groove. Would make installation SO much easier.

The dimmer feature was not worth the money and the loss of light to us thus the poor ratings in the value, quality and overall rating of this product. The dimmer feature takes up more space inside the tube than I imagined and the solar panel used to power the dimmer is also INSIDE the tube. This greatly reduces the light that SHOULD come into the house when the dimmer is NOT in use. We have another skylight about 15 feet away from the dimmer skylight and the dimmer skylight gives us less than half the light despite getting the same sun exposure and being the same size. Don't waste your money on the dimmer. I could not be more disappointed.

The install was a little rough, but this skylight is worth it. Natural light is so pleasing, and it is amazing to have well-lit rooms! Why did I wait to buy these? I plan to buy two more.

We love the sky light, unfortunately, the light is blue and we have no way to change it looks nice but we were hoping for white light.

Our house is dark in the northeast winters. We installed these for added light and it worked. They take a couple of days to get adjusted to but we are considering installing more [installed 3 in the great room]. You absolutely must follow the installation instructions. The added solar powered night light is a waste of money. We will not be purchasing that one again but we will buy the less expensive model. Over all a very good product.

Very easy to install. I felt it needed more sealing on the roof side than called for. Shutter is a nice feature.

My skylight was shipped to my home fast, undamaged, and with all parts. I'm pretty handy around the house so found it easy to install. Took me longer to find my tube of roof sealant hidden in the garage than it did to install. I did not install the included dimmer/night light kit for several reasons. It was to be installed in the bathroom and I realized there was little need for the dimmer or nightlight - our GFI outlet already has a nice nightlight built in. The attic space where it was installed was small and the additional height from the the dimmer kit would mean I'd have to trim the solar tubes. And also the dimmer kit seemed kinda flimsy and I did not want to have to go back up in a cramped area to fix or replace it should it fail. One bit of advice for install. While prepping the kit for install I found the solar tubes were almost impossible to adjust. I found that when I removed the film from the inside of the tubes some of it was still stuck in the joints. After I carefully pulled the film from the joints the tubes moved freely. I was surprised by the amount and quality of light provided. Even on an average winters day it puts out enough light to shower by. No need to turn the regular lights on unless you need to use the mirror. During the day it's almost light you've got a light on, but your not using any electricity. Light even spills out into the hallway and provides needed light there as well.

Installed the 10" skylight with 48" extension tube. Very complete kit w/ templates and foil tape. Solar-Powered dimmer and night light works great, very nice feature. Installation took about 3 hours total.

I purchased two of these units for a kitchen remodel project and they are very nice. The installation was easy and they look great. The solar shades and night lights are neat but the light from these is wonderful and brightens the whole area as if lights were on. I will probably consider other units for the garage or baths. Happy customer.

This is a relatively economical way to add light in dark rooms and even closets but does take some experience with roofing work. The roof penetration and shingle repair is important to getting a leak free installation. Inside the house I use a Hole Pro adjustable hole cutter to get a perfect hole and let its shield collect all the dust. The roof cut does not need to be so neat as everything is going to fall into the attic space - usually. Not the heaviest gauge material so not something to use near the seashore but fine for other environments where corrosion is not a problem.

I was initially hesitant to buy and install this product in lieu of a full-sized skylight. However, I am amazed out how much light (both ambient & direct) enters through the tube. The diffuser helps to overlap areas in a very useful way. Also, I installed the light fixture in the tube which is helpful at night. The solar dimmer shield works easily at the push of the remote button. Installation requires adherence to the step-by-step instructions, and I would recommend that you draw a small diagram for yourself as you determine how this device will go into your ceiling-attic-roof. The only modification I found helpful contrary to the instructions was to trim the excess pipe sticking up through the roof flashing when snapped into place. A good pair of needlenose tin snips cuts it off easily and perfectly. Definitely a no hassle product.

We had our contractor put this above a tub in a bathroom remodel. It is both attractive and ecological. It has a built in remote control dimmer for those times you just want it to be dark. If I had it to over again, I would have put one of these in each upstairs bedroom and bath as well as the kitchen.

This was our second purchase of a tubular skylight. Our first one, installed a year ago, we did not need the dimmer feature. It dramatically changed the look of our completely interior bathroom. Before we had to turn the lights on every time we entered. This second one we chose the dimmer because it is in the room with our wide screen tv and we were not sure if it would be a glare problem. Where we installed it does not glare on the tv but it is a nice feature that works just like described. It arrived via UPS 4 days after ordered. It took my husband approx. 3 hours to install. Everyone who sees both skylights, loves them and picks a location in their house they would like to have them.

I installed this in a bathroom with no window i my doublewide. The light it provides is excellent. Unless you are putting on makeup or shaving, you do not need to turn on the light. The dimmer works well too and the nightlight was a nice bonus, but it provides little light. My installation involved no bends, so it was easy to install. I have 9 inches of space between the roof and ceiling, but it still provided plenty of light.

Installed one in my bedroom and I'm very pleased with the amount of light that comes out from it! The dimmer comes in very handy for days when I want to take a nap since it totally blocks out all light from coming from the tube. Very fast shipping and customer service as well from Home Depot.

I'm very happy with the shylight and shade. It still amazes me the way it works. The best thing they did was to add that shade. There are times when there is too much light and all we have to do is use the remote and close it. Great Product ...Speedy delivery.....Couldn't be happier.

this ODL tubular skylight is the easiest and fastest to install of the 3 different I have installed. - easy to read and very through instructions - quality materials - excellant roof flanges the added convience of the dimmer and night really sold my customer and they love it
