You can use this to cover anythig
This tarp is strong and sturdy. It's large size covers a lot of space. The rivets are useful to tie down. Does well at protecting against the rain. Highly durable.

Perfect Size Tarp
This tarp was the perfect solution to what we needed to cover the end of a wood pile. Good quality. After the first rain, no leaks and wood was still dry!

Thin and flimsy, not durable
The tarp had a hole worn in it before we'd even taken it out of the pacakge. We used it to cover our wood chipper/leaf shredder vac. The ringlets in the edge made it easy to connect a tie down to keep the tarp in place when it is windy although I was careful not to overtighten the tie downs due to the fragile nature of the material. The hole that was in the tarp seemed to be due to the woven style of the thin plastic fabric. These tarps are probably better for putting on a floor while decorating than for outdoor use.

Poor Quality
When it comes to making a good tarp there are really only two factors when it comes to how the product will perform. Quality of materials and quality of construction. This product seems to fall short on both fronts.

Quality, durable tarp
I use tarps to drag copious amounts of leaves across my rough, blacktop driveway every fall which can take a big toll on the tarps. So far, I've used the BOEN 9 ft. x 12 ft. All Purpose Blue Tarp for 3 major leaf hauls, and no holes have been torn in it (in comparison: last fall, I wore several holes in the tear-resistant tarp I bought from a different company). I'm very happy with this tarp, and, based on my experience with it so far, I expect it to last for a long time.

Decent Quality Tarp
This is just another regular tarp you can use for backyard or garage to cover stuff. The material looks ok and waterproof. The quality is not the best in market (texture may not be appealing to all) but sill not that bad for the price point. Overall would recommend this tarp for basic requirements.

weak & poor quality
A blue tarp is a blue tarp. It's big, waterproof, and has holes for easy tie-downs. This, coupled with being relatively inexpensive, allows the tarpaulin to be useful for a wide variety of applications. The devil is in the details, however, and that's when the quality tarps rise above the others. I'm sad to say this this tarp was not one of those. QUALITY The first thing you'll notice when you pick up this tarp is how light it is. There is simply not much weight to this product at all. That could be a good thing, but it also means that durability will be affected. In general, there seems to be a real lack of quality control in this tarp. After light use, i already noticed that pain was flaking off of the edges. And when the tarp was held up in the sun, it immediately became clear that this was a sub-par product. The cross threads were very skewed, leaving large gaps. Because of this nonuniform lack of strength, these gaps are extremely susceptible to holes with any sort of wear what so ever. If that wasn't enough, there is a discrepancy with almost every bullet on the product sheet. Advertised: Size 10' x 10'. Actual: Size 11'6" x 9'4". Advertized: Grommets every 3' Actual: Grommets varied, at 3'7" & 3'9". Advertized: Sewn corner patches Actual: corners were simply folded over and glued STRENGTH Despite the false advertizing, the product didn't fare too well either. The aluminum grommets might be rust proof, but they definitely weren't durable. The back popped off with just my fingers. Also, the tarp utterly failed when tied-down. With one corner secured, a surprisingly light pull completely ripped another corner grommet right through the side of the tarp. These tie-down holes are pretty useless. A medium wind would have the same effect, so you can forget about stringing this tarp up taught as a sunshade, for example. SUMMARY This tarpaulin's sole positive factor is that's waterproof. If you are using this to cover things from getting wet, or as a drop cloth for painting, this tarp will do you just fine. For any other application that requires any sort of strength, durability, or use of mounting holes, i highly advise you to look elsewhere.

Great Tarp for many various jobs!!!
owning this tarp has proven to be helpful for all sorts of projects. the tarp works awesome for landscaping jobs, covering misc. items for temporary outdoor storage, and for simply being used to cover furniture during interior projects. The tarp folds up into the original plastic bag for slim & easy storage!!

Not Bad For The Price
This is a general purpose light duty tarp. Quality on the one I received was good. Grommets were tight. Seams were straight. Covers the woodpile well. Checked it with the hose and couldn't find any leaks . For the price I thought it was a decent tarp and I should get a lot of use out of it

Poor Quality Control
I ordered the 9'x12' tarp, but the tarp I received was 10'x10'. It's still big enough to cover a truck bed, but it won't cover longer loads overhanging the end of the bed as well. The first thing I noticed while taking the tarp out of the package was that 3 of the 12 grommets were loose and hadn't been crimped properly. I could hear them rattling as I shook the tarp out (see picture). The grommets were spaced evenly every 2.5' around the perimeter of the tarp, and the edge of the tarp was folded over so the grommets attached to a double-layer. Unfortunately, the advertised "stitched corners" were not reinforced. The overlap at the corners adds up for a total of 4 layers, but I was expecting an actual corner patch reinforcement. Upon closer inspection, I found several pin-sized holes already worn in the creases from where the tarp was folded during shipping. There was also a spot in the tarp where the reinforceing fibers had been tangled during the laminating process (see picture). There was a big snarl of fibers, and then a spot with no reinforcement at all. I poked my fingertip through the unreinforced spot with less effort than it takes to tear the disposable 3 mil dropcloths I've used in the past. If it's not waterproof and not durable, I can't trust this tarp to protect anything I care about.

Solid Light Duty Tarp
Good for light around the yard work. It is waterproof at least to start out with, but very thin woven material, so I wouldn't expect it to stay waterproof for long. Very light and easy to maneuver, but be prepared to fasten it down, as it will blow up in even a slight breeze. Grommets are solidly fastened in folded corners, and 2 extra along each side should hold up as long as the tarp.

A good quality tarp
This tarp was not the original one requested, so I had to modify its use. It's large enough to cover a riding mower, a small project short-term, or any items you desire to keep away from the elements. The tarp's quality is much better than some tarps I have previously purchased from non-home-improvement stores, but at the end of the day........it's still just a tarp that can be used for whatever purposes you need a good tarp for.

POOR WORKMANSHIP
When the BOEN All Purpose Blue Tarp finally arrived, I had high hopes that it would be all that the ad on the package purported it to be. We have had our fill of less than durable tarps and the mess they eventually scatter all over the countryside. As I unwrapped the tarp, the first thing I noticed was the salvage on one side was close to the grommet on one end, got bigger then smaller then bigger again and finally ended up about 4 inches deep on the opposite end. It is supposed to have a reinforced hem. Maybe that means the string that runs along the hem line of the tarp which was easily visible because the glue used to make the hem didn't stick. It is supposed to have sewn corner patches. I could find no evidence of stitching anywhere. I ordered a 12'x16', was told I would get a 9'x12' and ended up with a 10'x10'. I have yet to need a 10'x10' cover. It is also supposed to have an extra strength weave and be heavy duty double laminated coated. With as poor as the workmanship is I'm not too sure I can believe that but it does feel fairly heavy and the grommets are every three feet.

NOT VERY THICK NOR HEAVY
This is what appears to be a fairly well-made tarpaulin in that it is well sewn, and has a reinforced hem which probably makes it resistant to tearing around the edges. I bought this tarpaulin to use as a "curtain" in my garage to hide my lawn equipment, old filing cabinets, shelving, and laundry basket. My intention is to suspend a rod from brackets down from the garage ceiling, put shower curtain hooks into the grommet holes of the tarp, thus making the tarp a "curtain" that can be pulled back and forth as needed. There are grommet holes every 3 feet, although for the purpose I intend it for, I would have preferred more grommet holes a bit closer together. This tarpaulin is not very thick, and feels almost lightweight. That said, for the purpose that I intend, it's ideal, but if someone was to use it underneath a shelter, especially on rocky ground, as the product description suggests, I really don't think it would hold up that well. I could see a rock piercing this tarpaulin without too much difficulty. A small problem with this tarpaulin, regardless of intended use, is that for some odd reason, the product I received had a discolored "stripe" on part of the tarp (see photos). The tarp is blue and the discolored section is beige. At first, as I was unpacking it, I thought the beige "stripe" was some sort of tape to join two pieces of tarp together, but it varies in width, narrows off, and doesn't go all the way across the tarp, so I have to think it was a flaw in the weaving or dyeing process. It doesn't change the durability of the tarp, but it looks a bit odd.

Wrong Size in Package, Pre-Ripped in Package, Thin Spots
This tarp is supposed to be used for covering material or outdoor items like woodpiles, boards, plants, furniture while transporting, etc. The label says 9'x12', which would cover the back of a loaded pickup. Unfortunately, when I opened the package, the tarp measured an actual 10' x10'. A bit short for wrapping under the tailgate. When the label says 9'x12', it should be 9'x12'. That wasn't even the biggest issue. The tarp had thin spots and tears in it right out of the package. See pictures I posted. Unacceptable quality control. This would never keep water off an item with factory made holes in it, and that's what you buy a tarp for. The grommets are thin stamped metal. They did hold for the day. So I gave them two stars for that. This is a one use and throw away tarp as far as I can tell. Nothing you'd want to trust over anything you valued. You can find better quality tarps for less money on this website that will last longer and hopefully they'll be the correct size and not be preripped for you. We're greatly disappointed in this Boen tarp's quality.

Why are tarps blue?
Why are tarps blue? That's what my wife asked me when I brought this tarp home. I thought that was a good question and Wikipedia had an answer - it's an informal way of indicating the grade of the tarp; Blue = light duty tarp, approx. 5–6 mils (about 0.14 mm) thick. Based on that definition this is a good quality "blue" tarp. It's 6 mils thick, and the finished measurements are 9' 5" x 11' 6". The package says it's a 10' x 12' tarp. I compared this tarp with an old generic blue tarp and this one was thicker and stiffer. Since this is of woven construction, I tested it for waterproofness, ponding water in it for 24 hours with no sign of a leak.

Lightweight but does the job
I ordered a larger size, but they were out of stock so I got the 9x12. I use it to cover my wood pile from the elements. The tarp is more lightweight than I thought and needs to be tied down so the wind doesn't blow it away.

Poor Quality Material
My experience with this tarp is that the material tears easily. I could push my finger straight through the material with very little effort. It ripped just dragging it over some equipment. The grommets are also thin metal and tend to cut through the material as well. The material immediately ripped away from the grommet with only the slightest pressure. I would only recommend using this for the lightest duty applications.

Standard Blue Tarp
This tarp is a standard inexpensive plastic tarp useful as a camping ground cloth and as a multi-use covering. Though fiber reinforced, they don't hold up well to ozone exposure or high winds, breaking down within a year or so in direct sunlight or coming apart if used to cover a pickup truck bed during an expressway speed limit haul if not tied down properly. There are a sufficient number of metal grommets built in for tie down or stake down purposes, but once torn, it's toast. I will continue to purchase these as necessary for general use.

All purpose tarp
I got the 10x10 Boen all purpose blue tarp, and it does what it is supposed to. It appears to be made very well. very heavy duty with rust proof grommets. The corners are double layered for extra strength. I used it in my back yard to cover a wood pile I have. So far it is holding up great but I would like to see how it does through the winter. I would recommend this product if you are in need of a strong well made tarp. I hope to get a larger one in the near future to use to cover my camp trailer with.

No good
My review is for the model BT1010 blue tarp. It is advertised as a 10' x 10' tarp; it is not that large. It measures 9' 2" x 9' 6" overall. The material is very lightweight and if backlit, you can actually see through it. When I took it from the wrapper, there was a lot of jingling. Not a good sign, because it means the metal grommets are loose. Grommet halves must be firmly stamped together in order to have any strength at all and these were extremely loose. So loose that I easily pushed them out of their holes in the plastic. The ones that were loose were not at the corners. Those were fairly tight. It was obvious that the machine used to fasten the grommets was not adjusted for the grommets that are not at the corners, where the plastic is thicker. Bad design and workmanship. This makes the grommets almost useless. The label says the grommets are "rustproof" but be assured they are not stainless steel, more likely a thin plating on base steel. A magnet grips them very firmly when presented. This is not a cheap price for this size. You can do much better. Once again, I had photos to post, but this web site will not allow more than one photo.

9X12 All purpose tarp
The tarp feels a bit thinner than others I have used in the past. The old one I have feels thicker but the one I received from Home Depot appears sturdy and even in windy days has held up without tearing or blowing loose. I am using it to cover my canoe when I am not using it and so far it is performing well and not blowing loose from around the canoe, (secured on a canoe trailer). I am satisfied with it so far.

Covering the firewood
There was a couple of splashes of a yellow/green on the blue tarp when I took it from the package and opened it up to full size; call it a manufacturing flaw. I hung it under the eaves to keep my firewood dry this winter. Three screws in back side of the fascia board, hang the grommets on them. I thought 9 feet should be enough to put bricks on the bottom to keep the wind from blowing it around, but it came just to the sidewalk; call that my measuring my flaw. So I took pieces of rope tied through the grommets and looped the rope around a brick and a piece of firewood to hold it down. There are grommets on each corner and one in the center of each side. The wind is blowing today and the tarp billows, but the brick and wood are keeping it from looking like a flag blowing in the wind. I will definitely buy a larger tarp when I need to replace this one.

Cheap
I used this to keep ground dry from rain on a deck building site. Corner grommet blew out and tarp tore in multiple spots with relatively light tension. Perimeter reinforcement is plastic twine inside a single stitch. Would not buy again or recommend. Have spent more on fixing the tarp than the tarp itself at this point.

The tarp performed exactly as advertised by keeping my leaky shed roof dry during the heavy rainstorm we received recently. The only downside experienced were some of the tie down rings tore away from the material due to the wind.
