1-the joint with the knurled surface near the butterfly nut was unable to hold an angle. The design is wrong. It's cylindrical rather than a ball. 2-butterfly nut is small and very hard to turn. Even with a plier it couldn't get tight enough. 3-four prongs that are part of the clamp poke your hand when you're squeezing it.

I had bought MANY of these fixtures to use to keep the critters warm in winter, along with the heat bulbs. They would NOT last long. Maybe a week or so. There must be a better way to keep the cats warm. Those other fixtures I bought did not match the wattage of the bulbs and that was the issue. These, that I bought from HOME DEPOT match the wattage of the bulbs! So far so good. Now the cats and critters are warm and I am NOT buying new bulbs every week. I had no idea that the fixture and the bulb need to match. THANK YOU HD. Education is a wonderful thing.

For the price I guess I got what I paid for. I like the clamp itself but the knurled knob, and the small carriage bolt & wing nut is garbage. I replaced the screw with a #10 finger screw and larger wing nut. Using pliers to tighten the assembly it seems to work fine.

I got this light lamp for my puppies its really big but on the picture it looks like it has an On and Off switch but when i pick up mine it didn't so i don't really want to be going around and be plunging and unplugging from the wall i would have to return it and go buy on in person. Don't trust what you see on pictures.

The reflector works well enough, but the connection between the lamp and the clamp is feeble and poorly designed. This is been the case for decades with these things of course, regardless of brand. I was hoping they would’ve come up with something with a 1/4-20 light stand thread , but no such luck. It just flops downward.

Simple, versatile and not expensive. I hung it from the ceiling over my pool table and looks great!

Cannot attach bracket for clamp securely. Using this for a heat lamp as stated on the box. Massive fire hazard and danger. Very poor design. Cannot believe Home Depot sells this as a "HDX" brand name.

WOW!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!! I plugged it in, hit the switch, and IT LIT UP!!!!! Not since my morning BM have I had an experience as deeply moving as this. I only wish that I could continue to do business with Home Depot, but unfortunately I must scratch yet another name off of my list of merchants as I continue to search for one at which I may shop without it resulting in my email inbox being flooded with demands that I participate in yet another insipid survey.

I’m happy with the brooder clamp light. Heats enouto keep our outdoor cat warm in 40 degrees +. Not enough heat for lower temps though unless you use it in an enclosure like a dog house. Definitely worth the $$.

Have not yet used the light. I do appreciate the veteran's discount applied to the purchase. HD makes it easy to reference just the phone number, without having to have the app.

The pivot point where the lamp connects to the clamp is a total failure. Will not stay pointed where directed. Decent for just a hanging fixture but do not buy of you need a secure light to clamp. Price is not terrible but the product is very cheaply made.

It provides good length on the cord and the spring clamp with rubber grips is of good quality, but the split C clamp which holds the ceramic socket is of poor quality and is easily bent. Also the wing nut and bolt should be larger to allow more torque to hold the light in place/position.

Used it as a heat lamp light in my well house.

I bought this for a reptile heat lamp. The porcelain socket is sturdy and resists the heat. The large area of the reflector creates effective heat coverage, more than the smaller reflector that I had been using. My reptile and I are very happy.

This most important feature I was looking for was a clamp, because I am actually using this as a brooder, which is in the title of the product. It's useless as a brooder with this clamp. It doesn't feel one bit safe once attached.

OK, it's a reflector fixture, pretty simple, it holds a heat lamp & should reflect heat in the general direction in which it's pointed. That much seems to be working. The hanger's probably OK for that application, but to describe the clamp as "poor" doesn't even come close to how utterly flimsy & cheap it truly is. Like other reviewers, I had to resort to using different hardware in order to make it work. Bad form, people, bad form...

The problem is that Home Depot has equally bad 250+ heat lamps. Both aren't great. The clamp is nearly worthless. Fortunately, I'm using the wire handle with a hook and hanging by a chain from the rafters. I'd put the cage on this if you use the clamp. Don't want to break the bulb should the thing fall down. I don't get it. It wouldn't be that expensive to put a decent clamp on this. There's no switch, so it's turned off by pulling the plug out of the electrical outlet. It does the job. Time will tell how long it last.

Great heating lamp for our turtle house.

Lamp umbrella is made too thin of material and not durable by any means. Poorly constructed!
