the paint went on as expected, was heavy and very good for covering cracks and small holes. We did clean and power wash the deck before applying and went on very well. One recommendation would be to not apply to deck railing where people may slide their hands along as the anti-skid properties in the paint will be very abrasive to the hand.

Rust-oleum 10X is the worst product I've ever encountered. Hold on to your receipts because you will be making a claim on their warranty. I applied this product as directed to a wooden deck 2 summers ago. The surface was prepped as recommended. In fact each board went through a surface planer. By the end of the first summer it started to peel. It is now a mess. I'm aggravated with Home Depot for even selling this product. Unless they have come up with some miraculous new formula don't buy this and save yourself a ton of money. If I could rate this with negative numbers I would. Simply awful.

That is not what we like to hear, Jim! Our Restore 10x Advanced Deck Resurfacer should last for many years on an exterior deck surface without peeling. Good product for rejuvenating a deck. The price is a lot better than the other products at $125+. Does a good job if U prep it as stated. Now we have to see how long it will last. Already went through a couple good storms. I did the roller trick and it came out gritty like it suppose to.

      Good product
I don't understand the problems people have with this product. I put it on 26 year old deck 2 years ago and it still looks good. Getting ready to do it around the pool deck. Secret is to use the primer first and paint it within 24 hours. Use a thick Matt rolled instead of theirs. Takes more primer than they say but less paint.

I've used Rust-Oleum Restore 10X for several years on a number of different projects. I ordered two four gallon pales of Cape Cod Gray for a large deck that I was refurbishing. Everything was fine with the first can but when I opened the second can, it was several shades darker. Needless to say, it was very noticeable and the outcome was not good. Somebody messed up big time.

The stuff is thick but works like magic to bond to the wood. The dock is instantly stronger after a couple of days. Fellow lake owner are right, this will add years of life to our dock. Just need to keep it stirred. I also used a smaller paint brush to get in the big cracks.

        Total disappointment
Don't waste your money!!! I spent almost $500 on this product to do my large deck in the back. We powerwashed it thoroughly and let it dry for days in the sun. It was a huge project and looked great when it was done. It was done late May and was peeling up by the end of July. This season (2nd season) it looks so bad that we bought indoor/outdoor carpet to cover it because it is too big a job to resand and do again. I would never recommend this product to anyone.

Preparation is key to Rust-Oleum Restore 10X Advanced Deck and Concrete Resurfacer adhering properly. To properly prepare your surface we recommend starting your project using either the Restore Deck Start Wood Primer or the Restore Deck Stripper. Call us at 800-373-6333 so we can discuss your application with you. Rustoleum

The product mixed up very well, and applied nice too. It look's pretty good now, but we'll see how it look's after winter.

Good product with some small issues
I am not sure why so many people are having this much trouble with this product. I now have this on my deck for 3 years with pretty good results, especially compared to paint/stain that was on there previously and had to be re-done pretty much each year. Overall I do think you will need to use a bit more then what is suggested which is deceitful of the company, it is easy to apply if you do it right. I did not prepare the wood in any other way then just running a sander on top (and yes plenty of paint still left on the deck after sanding) and did not use any of the suggested primer, etc materials. Applied the product and I do have two small areas where the paint chips in winter but I easily fixed this last season in 10 minutes or less. It chipped again this year in the same spots which makes me think something with the deck is causing this and I will try to clean it better this year before re-applying Restore. Other then this in 3 years the deck looks great just the same as 3 years ago right after applying this product. We have a carpet on part of the deck in the summer and deck furniture, also a dog and use the deck frequently, no issues whatsoever. Makes me think people just don't know how to use this product period. One other issue is when I bought an extra can a year later for touch up (not realizing I have some product left over) the color does not match making the touched up areas look bad.

            Terrible product
I purchase and applied this product with such hope. After years of reapplying Thompson each summer because no stain held up to washington winters. Wish I could go back. The product peals up and holds water under. It has rotted out some boards. I cant remove the product without replace all my deck boards. Not exciting thought given my deck is large.

              bad product
We bought this product about two years ago for our decks. One deck is right outside our house and the other around our swimming pool. When we first put it on, it looked great. By the end of the first year though it began to crack and peel up on both decks. By the second summer it was peeling up everywhere and I went back to Home Depot with pictures of my deck and told them about their product. They gave me several gallons to touch up our decks but said if we had the same problem again in the future we would have to take it up with the paint company. Guess what, its peeling again just about everywhere. I would advise everyone to be forewarned about this product because it has been nothing but a problem for us. We are redoing our decks with paint that we are buying from our local town's paint store.

              Don't waste your time
This product says it is 10 times thicker than paint, yet it requires 2 coats to get complete coverage. It requires special rollers and spreads like cold peanut butter. No matter how slowly you roll it out, it splatters badly and is a real pain to clean off of your siding. If you need multiple buckets of it, and it only covers about 120 sq ft per four gallons, you have to mix them together before you start, to ensure that you get a uniform collar. Presently, my deck is four VERY different shades of gray, so I a going to have to go over the entire 1000 + sq ft with their 2X paint, which they claim will cover fully in just 1 coat, but it required the purchase of another 5 gallons. When I am done with it, I will have a total of nearly 40 gallons of their product on my deck at a cost of over $700.00. I would not recommend this product to anyone, but if you use it, the easiest way to apply it is to pay someone else to do it.

Thank you for sharing your experience. You are right in that two coats of Rust-Oleum 10X Advanced Resurfacer are required. The first coat will go on to fill in cracks and do other minor repairs. The product will soak into the wood or concrete and dry. The first coat may be blotchy and spotty. The second coat works as a finish coat and will give greater wear as the product ages. The directions also state to mix multiple containers together to prevent uneven colors in the finish. Rustoleum
