Installed this myself recently. If you're even slightly mechanically inclined, it's an easy install. It's our first waste disposer, so I have nothing to compare it to. However, it's very quiet and powerful. So far it's handled all I've thrown into it - fruit (including whole plums with the pits, meat, rice, pasta, bananas, celery. I'm sure it will handle bones fine as well. I like the fact that's it's a batch feed vs a continuous feed. This is the only batch feed I found that was 1 HP. I'm not 100% sure, but I think Insinkerator makes these for KitchenAid, and this unit appears to have all the high end components that the Insinkerator Excel has, but it's batch feed vs Insinkerator continuous feed.

Great appliance for waste disposal needs. User friendly and most efficient.

WARNING: Kitchen Aid recently changed the design of this disposer. Online documentation shows 6-11/16" from bottom of sink to centerline of water discharge but the new design is 9-1/4". The new disposers have 3" long black plastic extension between the disposer and mounting ring. If your plumbing drain is not low enough (like mine) some of the garbage and water will sit inside the disposer and not drain. Even worse, Kitchen Aid support does not yet have any info about this. Can't use kitchen sink or dishwasher now! This could be the same issue across the entire product line. See attached picture showing the 3" extension

I was so pleased with the first one I had for 13 years it made sense to purchase the same one. I confirmed motor was the same HP. Another reason I wanted this unit. The set up for install is slightly different which is’t an issue. What is an issue is that it does a terrible job breaking down anything put into it. It takes double the time and water. I wish I had spend 1/4 of the price as I would have gotten the same result. As I replace other appliances I will now reconsider the Kitchen Aid line.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] With cities reducing the limits of garbage that we can put out at the curb, this disposal really helps meet the city's limits. It will be great in the summer time. It was fairly easy to install myself. It took about three hours. Not bad.

Throughout my life (69 years), I have had at least 8 different disposers. I put this BRUTE in my last home and never had any problems with it! It quickly ground up and disposed of any waste we put down it. My current home came with a Maytag disposer and, although good, it doesn't compare to my K-A. When it dies , you know what is going in next!

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) Replaced a 25 year old Kitchen Aid model. It does need to be run weekly, as the dishwasher waste contains enough "chunks" to clog the disposal, causing it to drain slowly. It took a it of work to make this unit fit, as the exhaust pipe is slightly different than the old one. Once connected, it works well.

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) My old KitchenAid garburator microswitch finally broke after 14 years. The new one fits in exactly the same way as the dimensions are still the same. So changing the old garburator was very easy. I did not have to take out the old bracket for the sink drain garburator.This one has magnetic contacts and is very quiet as well as powerful. I spent a day looking into replacement garburators, but I always came back to KitchenAid which has always been reliable.

I HAD THE SAME PRODUCT INSTALL 30 YEARS AGO AND I WANT TO HAVE THE SAME GOOD QUALITY PRODUCT AT MY HOUSE WHICH WOULD LAST FOR ME AGAIN FOR MANY YEARS TO COME.

Mostly easy to install, extremely quiet when running. chews up eveything very quickly The only thing i'm not sure about and have to contact customer service is that it didn't come with a rubber part that fits over the opening, so that utensils or anything unwanted doesn't fall into the large hole.

I bought this to replace an old Maytag that lasted a solid 15 years. This KitchenAid model is not as powerful as I thought it would be, and its not as good at breaking down dense or thick skinned material like lemon/lime/orange peels etc. as the old Maytag, but overall I'm happy with its performance so far.

I bought this to replace almost the same exact one I had for 20 years. The new one doesn't seem as powerful -- takes longer to grind food and makes weird noises in the process.

I replaced a Kitchen Aid Batch Feed Food Disposer with this unit after 13 years of use. The reson why I choose Kitch Aid was my satisfaction with with my old unit. I have the new unit for nearly a month. Therefore, it is too early to coment on the performance.

One you have a food disposal it's hard to live without! Very happy with my new kitchen aid unit.

This unit replaced two similar KitchenAid waste disposals both failed with the same problem. The new units were both installed under KitchenAid warranty. The previous units used a magnetic switch but the new unit has a more positive (mechanical, I believe?) switch. It's too early to see if it is more durable, but keeping fingers crossed.

This food disposal unit is so much quieter than our old one. At first I would have to look and see if it was really done.

This is the 5th or 6th waste disposal unit we have had, 10th home. First, we have had units of differing power we knew from experience one wants a 1 horse unit. Having said that, the Kitchenaid unit is by far the best we have ever had. I love the magnetic switch/stopper and the grinding power is superb!
