Drill many holes thru oyster shells
This bit drilled 112 holes thru oyster shells and is still able to drill more. If you drill dry you will dull/ruin the bit! The shells are hard - each hole took 30-40 seconds. I placed a sponge in a bread pan and covered with water. The sponge held the shell from slipping. The area of the hole was slightly underwater which lubed bit and kept it cool … essential! Let the bit cut - don’t press too hard. The bit did not come with drilling fluid like shown above. Be smart with the tool and water and you’ll be fine.

Successful project - Drilled drainage holes for small flowerpots
This Dremel drill bit is working very well for a DIY project, in which I am drilling holes in the bottoms of various things to turn them into flowerpots. I started with three teacups (see photo), to make sure that it would work, and everything went perfectly. The process is as folllows: install the bit, place a drop of oil on the bottom of the item, set the Dremel to 15,000 RPM (the instructions say to go no higher than this), turn on the Dremel, place the bit onto the spot to be drilled, and hold it in place. Apply no downward pressure (per instructions, allowing the weight of the Dremel to be the only thing applying downward pressure). Keep hands ready to catch the machine in case it falls through quickly, while drilling a fragile item. After a short time, when drilling debris mounds, stop and clean the debris out of the area (using a paper towel, and then a very small screwdriver to get the debris out of the circle created by the bit). Also clean off the bit with a paper towel. Then add more oil and begin again. When the debris mounds again, clean the area again, clean the bit again, add oil, and begin again. On the third drilling session, the plug fell away. I was able to catch the Dremel, so that it did not hit the teacup. The hole came out perfectly, and I did two more teacups. Now that I know that it works, I look forward to performing the same steps on additional items. I am leaving this bit in my Dremel. It still has plenty of life left in it, and this is fun!

    Fantastic Glass Drill Bit
I have been wanting to get a glass drill bit for my Dremel rotary tool for a long time because I make a lot of funky art for my yard with glass plates and bottles. I usually use marine glue to hold the glass together, but a screw through the layers makes the finished product more stable. Also, if a part of the finished project should break, I can replace that one part if it's been put together with a screw. Whereas, if item is all glued together, I would not be able to repair or replace just a part. So, I ordered this bit and was so excited when it arrived that I had to try it out right away. It has a "diamod impregnated core style bit" that is perfect for drilling holes in the flat plates and/or round bottles. It also has diamond grit around the outside to help with making holes bigger or odd shaped. I started on scrap glass first because I have never drilled through glass and did not want to break a piece I needed or wanted for an art project. After a few tries, I got the hang of it and proceeded to drill through 3 pieces of glass (1 at a time) and was able to attach them together and completed a flower for my yard. (Picture attached.) Please be sure to always use eye protection and gloves as a safety precaution when cutting glass! Also be sure to use the oil provided as it helps the cut go faster and, more importantly, keeps the bit from overheating. This glass drill bit is very good quality, says it has "a superior long life" and is my new favorite toy! I can't wait to try it on glass bottles and ceramic tiles!

    Nice to have
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like to have a couple of these and the larger sizes in my Dremel kit sometimes I run into a situation where I need to make some small holes through glass and it does so pretty quick

      Works great
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have bought this bit several times to cut through sea glass for jewelry. If I have to make a larger hole I create several small holes then cut out between them. It gives it a unique look.

Work very well to drill mutiple holes through a 3/8 inch thick sea shell. I did have the shell submerged in water for cooling purposes.

This 1/8" dia. diamond core drill worked perfectly, using a hand held variable speed Dremel Grinder operating at the mid-range RPM. The kiln fired glass artwork was submerged under water. Start the hole with the grinder and diamond drill at a 30 to 45 degree angle to break the glaze surface and then position the Dremel/diamond drill perpendicular to the work surface. The end results was excellent.

Only made it through a single use
REALLY expensive for only drilling a single hole through 1/4" of glass. It was already completely worn down after that.

We are sorry the drill only made one hole. We expect more than that as well. We will contact you to get some details on what happened and to provide some assistance.

Perhaps I did it wrong, or maybe just because this little thing is only 1/8" diameter... It broke the first time I tried to drill through a piece of tile. I wanted to mount a fixture to the tile in my bathroom. I knew that I needed a larger one in the long run, but I wanted to try this one out in case I needed a smaller hole in the future. Unfortunately I won't be drilling any holes in any tiles with this thing ever.

I have never been very successful at drilling glass; however, this bit has done the trick. I build wind chimes and use old abandoned glass insulators as the striker. In order to properly use the insulators, I must drill a small hole through the center so I can suspend the wind catcher. This drill bit has been successful where others have failed. I have drilled several insulators and it seems as new as ever.

          Good Bit
This is a good diamond bit for use in a Dremel tool. It's not the fastest cutting bit I've used, but using the included cutting oil helps a little. I actually found it worked better with my drill so I could put more pressure on it. I had to cut 6 holes in ceramic wall tiles and needed them to be a little bigger than it's 1/8" diameter and the nice thing about diamond bits that have lots of diamond around the shaft is you can wobble it to make thew hole a little bigger.

          Cuts a nice smooth hole
I used this bit on ceramic tile. It cut a nice smooth hole. Instructions say to not exceed 15,000 RPM with the tool. My Dremel tool runs at 30,000 RPM full speed, so I took a guess and set the speed control at about half way. Seemed to work OK. Also, the instructions say to lift the bit and add lubricant every few seconds. I noticed that the bottom of the hole seemed to run dry after about one or two seconds, so I added lube about every two seconds.

          Quality Dremel Bit
This is one great little Dremel Glass and Ceramic, diamond drill bit ! The fact it comes with a small bottle of Dremel cutting oil ! I have cut small holes in two glass and three ceramic flower pots with this bit so far and it still cuts very well. I recommend using a medium speed while drilling to keep down the heat aspect of cutting ! I highly recommend anything with the Dremel name on it !!

          Very short life
Yes, this product does work, but I was only able to drill two holes before the bit got totally dull. So given the high price of the product and depending on what your doing, it may not be worth it.

I slumped some glass jars and drilled holes in them this afternoon. I was able to drill 12 1/2 holes before changing the bit. using my cordless Dremel tool, I created a cut in the glass for the hole, I held my drill at straight up and submerged each of the pieces into water and drilled through one piece at a time to finish.

We actually do not recommend submersing anything in water while using our tools - it's not safe. We include with this accessory a special lubricant, we recommend applying that as suggested for the most optimal drilling.

              Very disappointed!
After doing research, I found that this was the bit I needed to drill glass. It was much more expensive than others I found. I figured a quality name would have a quality bit. I was able to drill 3 holes, after that, it was completely worn out and unable to use again. I read all instructions and used bit as instructed but still wore out.

Only good for one time use
Bought this for putting holes in glass gems. Was only good for one hole before it was worn down and no longer working.
