The unit seems to cook ok, but it is very loud.

Don't expect too much from a low priced microwave. 5 months of ownership so far. This appeared to be the quintessential break room microwave when our old Sanyo puttered out. Basic and simple to use. At first it worked pretty well, heating faster than our old one. I really like the quick 30 seconds on the START button where it should be. At some point though it seemed like it was taking forever to heat up my frozen lunches. I also started noticing that the microwave generator was cycling on and off even though the power was set to "P-HI" and that seemed weird. Today I took a late lunch and used the opportunity to do some testing. Turns out even on "P-HI" (which it defaults to and automatically reverts back to after every use) it was cycling off for 8 seconds at the 38 second and 8 second marks every minute. In other words we were getting 22 seconds of power for every 30 seconds of cooking time. That's why it seemed like the microwave was taking longer to heat than when new. The manual says "P-HI" is 100% power but P-HI, P-90, P-80, and P-70 all operated EXACTLY the same. P-60 and lower cycled longer as you would expect. (Tell me why there is a 0 power setting???). I couldn't find a reset so I unplugged the unit for 15 seconds and surprise, that glitch seems to be gone. For how long remains to be seen.

Great microwave! My old one (branded Emerson) died recently after 13 durable and vigorous years. I wanted to replace with an identical model, but couldn’t find one. So I settled on Magic Chef and SURPRISE! Apparently the company that made the Emerson model (manufactured in China) subsequently licensed to Magic Chef. This version is 100 watts more powerful and slightly larger on the inside, but otherwise almost identical in operation and design to my beloved previous microwave. I’m so happy! The unit is compact yet large enough to heat any standard 12-inch plate or bowl. Cooking controls are easy to program for various intensities and any heating duration up to 59:59, and the start button doubles as a quick-cook button, push once for 30 seconds of instant cooking, and each additional push increases the time by 30 seconds. The rotating plate and everything else is as you would expect on a good microwave oven. The power cord is 30 inches (slightly longer than two feet). If history is a guide, this Magic Chef will last at least a decade. That’s my hope. Right now (after two weeks), I’m very satisfied.

After 5 months keypad display reads AC-3 and none of the buttons work anymore. If you bought or are buying this model make sure to save your receipt. Personally, I will never have a Magic Chef product in my home again.

So far so good, only had it for about 2 weeks. Teenager uses it daily, works great for him. Super easy functions.

One of the main factors in our selecting this unit was how well it fit in the space our kitchen has designed for a microwave. Almost a month after purchase we had one day of the turn table jerking fast and slow rather than running at a steady speed, but it seems to have worked itself out.

We were looking for a specific size and color as a replacement oven. The Magic Chef Countertop Microwave fit the bill. It was a great value and easy to install.

Good, basic microwave at a good price. Has the essentials- carousel, power levels, defrost, automatic popcorn button with settings for different sized bags, one-touch 30 second button. Display and buttons are easy to read. A full size dinner plate fits and turns easily. The finish does attract a few fingerprints.

I just bought one of these and so far so good, it does exactly what I want it to do. It's easy to use, the control panel is easy to read, it has the 30 second option I wanted, the light comes on when you open the door. This is my 3rd microwave in a week, I returned the other 2. Each of the other 2 microwaves I brought home were lacking in at least 2 of these functions. It is inexpensive, I don't know how long it will last, but it does what I need it to and I would probably just buy another the same if it fails after it's out of warranty.

I needed a microwave small enough to fit a particular space, yet have enough power to heat foods quickly and evenly and this Magic Chef fits those needs perfectly. It's a nice looking appliance as well and I'm quite pleased with the purchase.

Works well. We are happy. Instruction book easy to understand. We took away one star because we had to connect it to an extension cord as microwave oven cord is shorter then prior appliance

I just bought one of these Magic Chef microwaves based on the positive reviews posted, and I have to say I'm pretty happy with it. The size is nice; fits well on my countertop, and the interior is high enough to fit my tall coffee mug, which the one it is replacing could not. The door opening button is easy to push, but I did have to apply a little pressure to get the door closed. No big deal. The controls are pretty straightforward, the learning curve for most people should be pretty quick. As for performance, this is one powerful little baby. I would set my 700W Sharp for 2:22 second to heat a room temperature cup of coffee to a drinkable temp. So I ran a test as soon as I got the new one set up (which took about two minutes to do, from box to countertop.) I filled my mug with tap water that was colder than my coffee usually is, set it for the same 2:22, and let her rip. The water came out almost boiling! According to my kitchen thermometer, it was at almost 200 degrees. Al in all, I am very pleased with my selection so far. And, as you can see in the attached image, the LIGHT DOES GO ON WHEN THE DOOR IS OPENED. Maybe the manufacturer changed the function on their latest edition based on customers' comments. And at $60, I don't care if it only lasts a couple of years, but I won't be surprised if it works for many years to come.

The size is just right! Works well and would buy again. We purchased this before the holidays. Easy to use.

Now we can finally warm our food in the office! This is a great microwave. Good quality, and warms everything in no-time. I highly recommend this microwave, especially when your office doesn't have a kitchen or anything of that nature.

Bought this microwave a couple of weeks ago to replace one that "died." It's just the right size for my kitchen: small enough to fit my limited counter space, but big enough to handle my cooking needs. Looks good and is easy to use.

This oven is built like a tank. It will serve you well for a long time. So the light only goes on when you're cooking. So what? When you look at reviews of others in this price range where the window explodes and blows glass all over because of a bad seal, consider yourself lucky. Only problem: the fan is cheap and is out of balance so it may vibrate and make the unit sound like a truck. If it does, here's the solution: turn the unit around and look at the back. Just above the fan you'll see a plastic nib that looks like a hook and sticks out. Put a cup of liquid in the oven (never operate empty) and give it 30 seconds. Now press that nib with your thumb. It no longer sounds like a truck, correct? The problem is to hold the fan assembly firmly against the chassis, which the designer would have done if he hadn't used plastic parts. To do that, get a 3/8 inch heavy steel washer (22mm OD, 2.5mm thick with a 9.5mm hole), place it over the nib and push the nib down with your thumb (gently) until the washer drops inside the little hook. Now try it! Quiet as a lamb!

seems to work fine. I just don't care for the push button to open the door. Other than that I would have given it 5 stars

Made purchase for rental as new microhood unit would hang too low over existing range. This little guy seems powerful and runs quietly, I may stick with it. It takes up less counter space than I thought.

The microwave seems to meet all the claims the manufacturer makes, and is easy to use and clean. I've had it about 10 days and it works well, so I recommend it. However, the fit of the door, oven top front view trim by the door and control panel, as well as part of the back panel is out of alignment, and doesn't look as perfect as the images in the advertisement. I'm doubtful it will last the 20 years my full sized microwave did, which had a different manufacturer. I really miss the interior light coming on when the door is opened and the microwave not operating --- the light when the door was opened would make it much easier to keep clean.

I needed a microwave to replace the one the ex took in the move-out. This one fits a full-size dinner plate and heats most things in one minute or less. I don't do a lot of cooking in it, but it more than suits my needs to re-heat items or defrost.

Very happy with this microwave. Love the 30sec.additional time button,plus the Auto cook button.

works great for heating my tea on the cold days. Has just enough space to fit my biggest plate so no problem reheating leftovers.

Product works as expected, the start button doesn't push as easily as i like but besides that everything is good
