We have purchased four model 51609 blowers over a period of ten years, both as gifts to family members and personal use.

Pros: lite weight and power

The leaf blower / vacuum is powerful but I find them awkward to use. The bag is located such that it is always slipping off my shoulder. The unit is straight where is would be helpful if the extension was curved somewhat to reach the ground easier. No one likes cleaning up leaves but a well designed unit would make the job more enjoyable.

Product was easy to put together and operate. Has outstanding capabilities. Had a Toro before and never used the vac function. I really like being able to pick up leaves with out a rake. Thanks for a great leaf blower/vac.

  • Second time around

This is the third Toro Blower Vac I have purchased. The first one, an older moldel, was the best and most reliable. The second one was the Ultra Blower Vac and it had issues almost immediately. The knob for adjusting the air flow stopped working. Every time the unit was turned on it never reached the maximum speed. When the knob was turned to the lowest setting or off, the unit remained running and the only way to turn it off was to unplug it. I feel that the blower function works better than the vacuum. If the leaves are even slightly damp, it clogs easily. This time I am registering the product unlike with the previous unit. I'm hoping I get two good years out of it, if not, switching brands. For now I will recommend, if the second one goes, it's a deal breaker.

Pros: great for blowing leaves Cons: quality and dependability need improvement

We recently moved to a home with quite a large area of zero-scape. The blower works great in removing leaves from rocks and the adjustable speeds allow control in hard to reach spots. The mulcher was easy to use and saves on bagging or provides a good garden mulch.

Pros: adustable speeds Cons: a little awkward to handle

It looks great. Can't wait to try it this fall, 2015. Got it for Christmas, 2014. Send this email back in November, 2015 and I will let you know! I phoned and asked if I could use it to blow light dustings of snow off the driveway and sidewalk and I was told that that would void my warranty so it stays in the box downstairs until the fall.

The corners of bag could have rubber guards and where bag attaches to plastic could have better support on bag.

Pros: metal shreader Cons: bag

I just starting using the blower and vacuum and it works great with the variable speeds and the steel propeller. This is better than the my old Toro blower vac which had only 2 speeds and plastic propeller.

  • Beats fooling with gas engine units

I had an electric blower years ago, and disliked dragging the cord around the yard what with all the trees we had, so bought a gas powered unit that lasted a good many years but was extremely difficult to start. Got tired of fooling with the gas unit so purchased a battery unit. Battery unit OK for small jobs (garage floor and decks) but battery life between charges is very short. This unit has much more power than the battery one and is good for our current location.

Pros: powerful, needs no battery/recharge, no gas and oil to mix, no hard to start issues Cons: requires a long cord
