This vinyl vent is designed for placing in sofit areas or exterior walls to terminate a 4" duct and has a bug screen to prevent insects from entering from the outside. It also has good collar to use a metal band to ensure a tight fit of the duct.
Easy to Install,
Good Size & Weight,
Inexpensive, easy to install. Stays in place on own for now, but I can see the need for screws through the flange if it is has to be removed and re-installed for painting the soffits. Fortunately, the flange is plenty large to accomodate this. The flex duct holds secure with use of a zip tie (not included but required by code in a few municipalities). This is a case of simple is better in my opinion and our fans work many times better than they did when ducts were routed up and looped around a rafter brace by the original builder.
Used a hole saw to make the soffit hole, attached the flex hose from the outside to the cap, added a ring of caulk, and pressed into place. Perfect for the application of venting a bath fan. Note that an inline backdraft damper is required. Excellent value for the $$$. I have 3 installed on my house without issue.
Extra depth worked great on old house with multi layer sofits.

We had to drill (hole saw) through two layers of aluminum and into the original sofit. Once the hole was drilled several taps with a rubber mallet secured the vents. Clean, neat appearance and fully functional.Thank you.
Great product and easy to install. I replaced my other soffit vents with these. I did some additional attic ventilation so I purchased some more must have been over a dozen. Do yourself a favor get a good 1/2 inch chuck drill ( or barrow one ) with a 4 inch millwake hole saw and also some soffit baffles and attic mask and suit to install. You really need all and I heard some people just drill the holes but you have to open up the bays and install those soffit baffles. The only downside is they are not available in stores
