I just purchased and had installed this security light over my garage. I had a professional electrician install this, though I might have been able to do it myself, but I'd rather someone else crawl through the attic space in the summer, and I wanted the peace of mind to know that it was done safely and correctly. After it was installed, I had to adjust motion detection sensitivity a bit (to be expected) and it works like a charm. I especially like the dim feature (which can be turned off); the dim feature can be set to dusk + three hours, dusk + 6 hours, or dusk to dawn. This feature can also be turned completley off. Either way, the light immediately goes to full (300W) when someone approaches. It picks us just as well from side to side as directly in front of the unit. As it's just been installed I can't attest to its durability but so far I would recomnend it. Good value and works well.

I've installed 3 about 10 years ago, and replaced 1 after about 2 years. I'm replacing another now, the sensor is done, I like the fact that Heath offers a replacement sensor. It's simple but you do have to remove it to install. The Dual bright feature and adjustable range work well for us on our deck. It has a test mode and you should have one of your kids help you set that by running around in the yard. The most important thing to remember is to use a paper towel or tissue when handling the bulb. Any finger oil will cut the life of the bulb in half. I also recommend replacing them both at the same time just to minimize the hassle.Tip, over time the contacts can become corroded. Before you replace the bulb or the fixture, try using a finger nail file or piece of sand paper to clean them. You might save a dollar or two.

Pros: Easy to Assemble, Well Made, High Quality of Material, Eco-Friendly, Looks Great, Very Bright, Nice Design, dual bright mode, standard halogen bulbs Cons: none

  • Bright Lights and Easy to Install

I gave this product only 3 of 5 stars because the sensitivity is high. Even when turned down all the way it kicks on a little to easily for my taste. On the plus side, it floods my entire back yard with ultra bright halogen light. It was easy to install and was up and running in about 30 minutes. I love the dual-bright 50% light setting option.Since these are halogen lights, they do get extremely hot, but I kind of expected that. The price was also a strong selling point.

This lighting unit is made of high quality materials, it was easy to install, it worked the first time around and I really like the dual level of lighting. The only thing I'm finding a little difficult is locating replacement halogen bulbs. These bulbs are obviously specialized in nature and not listed as available on the Home Depot site. I plan ahead and will usually have replacement bulbs available when needed. I've sent a e-mail to the manufacturer for guidance on where to find replacement bulbs. Other than that, great price, good quality, does the job it was intended for and it was an easy install.

I have the sensor set past "Max" up to the maximum settings on turbo, but still the fixture comes on only when I approach only about 10 - 12 feet. It is very far from the promised 100 feet.

Here's the facts that I've found about my light. Works well. You can adjust the sensativity so if it turns on too often, lower the sensativity. As for copper wire ... yes, it is copper. The ends of the wire are "tinned" so it appears to be aluminum but, yes it is copper. My bulbs have been going strong for over a year now. Sensative enough that cats/dogs passing by will turn it on if the sensativity is set too high.

I bought two of these, and for the most part, I like them very much. The price is great for what you get. The light this provides is pleasant and gap-free. The motion sensing is excellent (maybe a little too good; it's quite sensitive). One of these stopped working immediately, but I was able to exchange it and the new one has had no trouble.

I installed this unit more than 2 years ago, and have had no issues with it. I am just now replacing a bulb in it for the first time. I suspect the others who've complained about this "eating bulbs" probably did not handle the bulbs properly (getting oil from your hands on the bulbs will kill them prematurely). I've had some issues with the wind setting off the motion sensors on windy nights, but otherwise it works as it should.
