            A:  Big enough to hold a light bulb. The only limitation is suspending the shade from the plastic dome that holds the socket. Our shade was suspended by three short chains to a ring, like a key ring. We put the cord through it just the way you'd put a key on a ring. The bulb-holding dome-shaped piece actually hangs above the shade.
