Q:My CO2 regulator (with selenoid & A/C power cord) is plugged into my timer which constantly resets to a default setting, at which time I lose my 20 presets, in addition to displaying an incorrect time. I own multiple timers & this problem occurs with each one, although the timers seem to work without problems with other loads. Is my probem inherent to loads only having a seleniod? I've been researching & have come across something called "free voltage contacts". Does this have anything to do with my problem? Why do my timers only refuse to work with this CO2 regulator, but seem to work with lights, radios, fans, etc.? Do I need an old fashioned "mechanical timer?

Q:I am looking to put my espresso machine and burr grinder. The Espresso machine pulls 1500W & the Burr grinder pulls about 250. Can I put both of those appliances on this?

    Answer This Question

A:  As long as the total wattage does not exceed the rated wattage, then the timer will be okay. The rating specifications for this timer is 125V, 60Hz, 15A/1875W Resistive, 8A/1000W Tungsten, 8A Ballast.

Q:I have used Woods timers in the past and each has been very reliable. But when I wanted to make another purchase, I researched this particular model and was surprised to discover complaints about the timer resetting after either a power on or power off transition. After further research, I learned that one person, who is familiar with electronics, suspected that during the power on or power off transition, electrical noise generated by the load (the appliance or lamp you are switching on or off) might be the problem. After he placed a surge protector between the timer and the load, that fixed this problem for him. I emailed the manufacturer about this design flaw and received the following response: “We are well aware of all comments/concerns and the newest 50009 has a green or blue dot on back of timer that indicates the newer design.”
