A: I did not see anything that would keep me from drinking the water. Brass valve, then up the steel pipe to the handle and spout. The steel pipe wouldn't scare me from drinking the water.

Q:Can a 3ft bury depth hydrant be buried 2 ft underground, to give me an an extra foot above the surface?
My freeze line is only 1 foot, so it seems like I would be well in the clear?

A: Can install above higher, as long as the inlet connection is below the recommended frost line. Woodford is the Choice of Professionals.

A: Well, you accounted for the freeze line. Mine is like 3 - 4 feet, but I go all the way down (bury) 6 feet.
You can do what you want really, but my main concern is the stability of the whole thing. You having 4 feet above ground and only 2 below the ground you may find it a bit unstable (top heavy). Woodford makes a great product and that handle "locks" into place and take a little force to raise it.
I'd rather see you go with the 5 bury and then come up 1 foot to have 4 under and 4 above. Much more stable in my opinion.

A: It should as long as your well has pressure, this is not a pump, it’s a shut off hydrant
by|Aug 2, 2019
A: As long as the pump supply line comes up to the bottom of the hydrant valve body, that will work. This Y34 hydrant SKU in a standard set up would be 36 in. below ground and 36.5 in. above ground.

Q:What is the outside diameter of the riser pipe?
I want to mount it on top of a well casing and run it through a well seal to let it drain back into the well, so i need the outside diameter to match it up to the correct size well seal.

A: For potable solutions, Woodford carries a low lead Y34 hydrant. Need to call Woodford at 1-800-308-0864. Another option is purchasing Woodford Thermaline, perfect for mobile home or RV use. Look for the Thermaline on HomeDepot.com. Depending on the area of the country you are in, you will also need to know the bury depth and also will need electricity since the Thermalines include a heating element for those freezing condition days.
