Q:Want to hang a track for sliding wood and glass doors for a closet. The available horizontal stud is metal. How can I reinforce that with wood to handle very heavy sliding doors?

Answer This Question

A:  This anchor is very strong but you must consider (2) additional concerns: 1) what is the weight of the door? And, 2) supporting the weight of the door is as strong as your weakest link. If possible, build a sort of 2 x 6 frame around the doorway area. In other words: use a 2 x 6 or 8 x width of door header at top of opening and support it by one each 2 x 6 at each end and run them vertically down to the floor. Dress up with wood moulding strips of needed. This method would remove the need from ify ceiling support to a more reliable support from the floor or vertical wall around the doorway. Good luck!

Q:Howdy, I have to mount a 49" wall clock. Image below -- I need about an inch (maybe a little more) of the bolt to hang it on. Will this suffice? Should I get a longer bolt? Can I use thicker bolt/screw? Thanks

Q:Will these work to hold the bottom of door blinds on an exterior door? Exterior door is metal and has some insulation type material in it but I haven't been able to find any other fasteners that will hold the blinds taut at the bottom of the door.

      Answer This Question

A:  If the door is hollow they should work great. If the door is foam filled then that would be the wrong application for this type of fastener.

A:  I do not think these will work for what you want to do. How thick is your door? Because I think these anchors are 4 inches long and if so, will go through to the other side of most standard width doors.

A:  It may work, depending on the ductwork flange, if it gets in the way, a larger screw might be a better option

A:  Tighten until it feels very secure. Yes, if you're playing Hercules you can destroy it. Or ruin the screw-head.
