A: we use our cooler for pop and water so I can't speak to beer. when the cooler came it was preset to I believe 5. we decided we wanted to set it one more notch to cool it a little more. the next morning I took a bottle of water out and poured it into my glass of ice and it came out of the bottle slushy. we changed it back to 5, and haven't had need to boost it since. we love our little cooler, and everyone who visits wants one too.

Answer This Question
A: It's designed to be used as a freestanding unit but sounds like the clearance behind the unit maybe adequate. You should consider getting a built-in unit like Whynter's BBR-801BG. You don't have to worry about clearance or ventilation

A: Unit is freestanding but if you need to build it in, just make sure you have at least 4 inches on the back and sides for heat exhaust.

A: The more clearance the better it'll work. I'd say a minimum of 4" all around the unit.
