A:  Ours gets hot to the touch, also.

A:  Anonymous, Any oven when turned on and baking/broiling, the door is going to heat up. I am not aware that it would cause any type of serious injury or burn, but the door will be warm to hot to touch. This would be true of any cooking appliance. When using home appliances such as cooking ones, there is always care that should be taken when little ones are around. This oven doesn't and wouldn't get any hotter on the exterior than any other. It performs well, has many great features such as convection and a warming drawer. I believe that you would be very happy with it. Thank you for viewing this Whirlpool home appliance.

Q:I wonder what per cent of heat from a gas burner using a stainless steel pan goes right out the side of the burner without heating the pan? I use 100%^ wind energy. So, the pollution from electricity generation is not a factor.

A:  This stove needs a 40 amp circuit breaker. That's pretty high. I would think it uses more power than gas. Also you can't make crepes on an induction cooktop. Pots and pans have to be in contact with the burner all the time.

A:  Melephant, Typically gas appliances tend to heat and get to a desired temperature more quickly than an electric model. However, in recent years, electric burners and elements have gotten more powerful and heat more quickly. They are pretty close to each other in performance anymore and it really comes down to preference of the user or what the space has been setup for. We do not measure heat that might or might be lost on the side of pans. As long as you are using a pan that is as large as the burner or slightly larger there would be minimally heat lost in either electric or gas. Thank you for viewing this Whirlpool home appliance.

A:  Induction cooking is the most energy efficient means of cooking. All of the heat goes in the pan. No heat loss, like with gas stoves. I've heard induction is 40% more efficient than gas cooking.

A:  Hi Dahlgrcd, Induction cook tops use magnetism to heat the cookware as opposed to heating the pan and the food with radiant heat. The advantage is the cook top surface stays cool, only the pan heats up. The disadvantage is you can not use aluminum cookware on an induction cook top. Mike,

A:  The cookware is available everywhere and all price points. Paula Dean on Evine (I think) has a disk with handle that you can put on the burner to "convert" your cookware to use on the induction stove. Well worth it..induction cooking is faster with great results. I am looking at this stove because I have been using a table top model and just love it....and I have a $1,200 gas cooktop!!

A:  Knitter, Thank you for viewing this Induction Range. When looking for cookware to be used with induction you want to ensure that it is magnetic. Most cookware today will fit the bill. Also, most cookware that you look at will either provide logos of the types of cooking surfaces that it would designed for or it will specifically spell out the type of cooking surfaces it is designed for. Thank you for allowing me to assist.
