Q:Reverse from Remote

Answer This Question
A: Hello. Wiring a ceiling fan so that the remote control can also change the direction of the fans operation requires several additional wiring connections between the remote control and the fan motor. This would increase both the cost of the fan and the difficulty of the installation. In addition, this would mean that the fan would not be compatible with other remote control units, and would make replacing the remote control difficult. One other thing to keep in mind is that the direction of the fan is typically only changed twice each year, at the beginning of the summer for warm weather operation (blowing air downwards) and at the end of the summer for cold weather operation (blowing air upwards). This coincides with the routine maintenance of the ceiling fan, which should be performed twice per year. (Refer to the manual for details about maintenance.)
