The steel pump jack system SPJ-100 Wood Pole instructions are below:
Fabrication of Wood Poles: 1. Wood poles must be fabricated using two 2x4’s nailed together with 10d common nails. The wood used for poles shall be made of a clear, straight grained fir or construction grade pine wood, free of all knots or defects. All nails should be spaced 12 inches on center and should be staggered uniformly from opposite outside edges. The finished pole should measure 3 inch x 3-1/2 inch. 2. If splices are required to extend the pole, the 2x4’s must have a minimum overlap of 3 feet. Nails on each side of splice should be countersunk and spaced a minimum of 6 inches on center for a distance of 18 inches. In order to maintain full strength of pole, mending plates shall be used at every splice location. Wood poles must not exceed 30 feet in height.

500 lbs with 2 jacks?

Answer This Question
A: 500 lbs. would put 250 at each jack only if you stood perfectly between them.
I've had two people up on them with no problems. We are about 170 lbs. each, so 340 lbs. total. I wouldn't have put another person up there with us, and there wouldn't have been much room for them anyway.

Q:The Jack worked great at first, but then one stopped working going down after two days. I'm not sure why, It looks like it was binding into the 2x4's? Very disappointing to be stuck way up in the air. Do you have a solution to fix this issue??
