Q:What is that height of the strip around the base, and also the total height to the top point. The 4 x 4 x 4 description seems too tall. I'm replacing a lost 4 x 4, that's right at about 2" tall and the strip is 1/4" which is what this looks like.

    Q:Since the caps do not have a deep overhang, how do you keep them from blowing off the top of the posts? One reviewer mentioned that the metal was too hard to use nails/brads. What does the manufacturer recommend?

    A:  Use a bead of caulk around the inside edge. After it cures the cap won’t move.

      A:  I use an adhesive, liquid nails, gorilla glue or other putty type adhesive and they stay in place...

              Q:Can I use it on a full dimension cedar post? It says in description it is 4" width and 4" depth. If I sand it a little to fit as needed, is it actually 4"x4"?

                A:  These caps will not fit a full dimension 4x4 post. The actual size of the cap is 3.75 x 3.75.
