Q:Will this drill through an oyster shell or other thick shells? And if so , what bit should be used?
by|Dec 7, 2022
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  It can, but you would need an appropriate drill bit. The bits that come with this rotary tool might not work, but Dremel makes a lot of bits that can.

A:  Sanding stones? Do you mean polishing? I bought an assesory kit made by Dremel with attachments for engraving and grinding stone and a diamond but for drilling

                by|Nov 13, 2020

A:  No you would be better off using a multi tool with a grout blade.

                  by|Oct 14, 2020

A:  Yes it can be done with this tool but there is faster way to remove grout if you have a lot of it to remove

                  by|Oct 14, 2020

A:  I'm sure one of the bits can, I use mine on cured epoxy.

                  by|Oct 23, 2020

A:  The tool is really low HP and would not be good for grout removal. I recommend a RotoZip because it is a multitool, depending on the accessories. I even used it in a lathe setup where I turned the work on a homemade V bed against the RotoZip set up as the cutting tool. I was replacing a cheap busted compression cup on a log splitter after altering the shaft size. It saved me $100.00+, and I only spent $5.00 for the hydraulic "U" cup replacement on the reworked shaft of the splitter. It is also a rotary plunge saw, drill, grinder, and, in your case could be used with a diamond tip grinder to remove grout.

A:  Yes it would work good for that the resin may gum up the sanding drums and you may have to change them more often.

                        by|Sep 8, 2020

A:  I am not sure what you are referring to as 'resin pieces', perhaps plastic castings or something similar. The Wen tool comes with quite a few different "bits", some which may or may not suit your needs. However, the tool is variable speed and includes a flexible drive extension, about 24" long, which allows performing delicate work much easier that having to physically hold the actual tool by itself.

A:  I would say yes it will work with resin, as long as you use the correct cutting wheels, and sanding wheels as well. I have used mine on sheet metal an plastic no problem.

                          Answer This Question

A:  NO. The tool obviously gets louder the faster it rotates, but it is not all that loud. However, if you are using the tool to grind something, with will be louder, but nothing compared to a coffee grinder, hair dryer or vacuum cleaner.

                          by|Aug 28, 2020

A:  The tool on the lowest rpm setting is very quiet. Even on the highest rpm setting its probably no louder than a blender or a kitchen mixer.

A:  There is a metal cut-off tool that can be used, but for wire shelves bolt cutters are best and an inexpensive tool to have.

A:  It does have several cutting wheels for steel.

                              by|Aug 16, 2020

A:  NOPE. It does not have any bits that can cut steel closet shelves. You will need large bolt cutters or a hacksaw to perform that task.

A:  Nice tool for the money but the motor is too small to cut thru heavy gauge coated wire.

                              by|May 12, 2020

A:  There's a cutting tool wheel and holder. You'll probably want to use Dremel heavy-duty cutting wheel to cut through metal screws and bolts.

A:  yes, it comes with cutting discs for very light duty cutting. however, you can purchase heavier duty discs (dremel product comes to mind) that may work better.

A:  Yes it does it's a Round Disc that is set up to cut steel you will go through a lot of them cuz they are so thin your best bet for cutting that coated wire would be a pair of bolt cutters

A:  In your kit you will see a drill bit that works the best that I found cuz you can put side pressure on it the only thing that I suggest is used the tool without your Flex cable

A:  I normally use a utility knife to cut dry wall. However for the rotary tool I would use a small masonry bit that will maintain its edge from the drywall powder.

A:  I don't. I use a different but similar tool for this purpose. However, the bits I use with the other tool could work with the WEN with a 1/8" chuck. Since I have had my other tool for quite a long time, I don't know where to advise you to acquire the bits, which look just like a drill bit with sharp spiral edges.

A:  The Wen Tool is a very light duty tool, and I don't know that you could tackle that job with it. I would go with a Rotozip.
