A: I guess it depends on how much you use it?? I see a crack in mine has developed but i continue to use. not sure if this helps answer your question.

A: My first stone lasted almost a year, I estimate that it was used about 30 times during that year for what I call long smokes ( brisket, butts, ribs)

A: Not sure about the Home Depot Description? I've been using mine for over a year and it continues to do the job. No signs of failing. Scrape it off with a spatula before each use.

A: Only if you drop and break it, it should last for years.

A: The Warranty is 90 Days. Lifespan can vary based on care and use. Typically years.

A: It's porous so I don't know if this is the best use for the stone. I use it to deflect heat in my smoker.
by|Jan 10, 2022
A: The purpose of the stone is to be used as a pizza stone or a deflector of heat to slow cook or smoking. I've never tried cooking a steak on it. Not sure if cleaning the stone after use if water would cause it to crack. This is my third stone, they can crack. a searing plate on top of the bracket might work better.

A: I don’t see why not. I’ve used it in the kamado grill for both smoking and pizzas, heated up to 600 degrees. Make sure you put a little oil on it so the steak doesn’t stick

A: It is not as solid as it looks. I wouldn’t handle it much it will crack.
by|Jan 7, 2022
A: Sure. Keep in mind stone is porous so liquids may seep through.

A: Had mine for 6 months, use it a lot doing slow cook and pizza, no problems at all. The bracket did get rust because of the heat, but not breaking so far. I always remove the stone and brackets to do grill or sear barbecue.

A: I have a problem where the stone itself cracks in half. From the bracket to the stone, this is a terrible product. I am now on my second stone. The bracket rusts and then breaks very quickly. And the stone itself cracks. I wish I could offer more positive advice. But this lava stone is terrible; and Vision should move to a better type of heat deflector.

A: To solve my problem with broken btacket. I could find a replacement. I bought some mwtal wire and secure it to my bottom rack. It looks funny but works well.

A: I had the same problem with the bracket and the stone breaking. I was smoking a brisket and I noticed that the stone had cracked in half.

Q:Can I get only the bracket? My stone is fine and I only need the bracket. I don't want to spend money on a stone if it is not necessary.

A: Hi Jon,
I have own this Lava stone for well over 1.5 years and have no problem with it. Although I don't leave it in the grill all the time. Only when I need it.
Hope this helps..

A: I have had mine for a few years. I use it only to defuse the direct heat when smoking. It collects the drippings which adds flavor to whatever you are smoking.

A: The stone is good after 3 years ,had to replace the support unit.

A: I know mine didn’t last many cooks and cracked in half. I replaced it with one from ceramic grill store
by|Apr 29, 2020
A: I have had mine for 3 years & had no issues. It depends how often you use it though. I don't use mine all of the time, also I wrapped aluminum foil over mine so that drippings from food that I cook won't burn into the stone.

A: I have had 2 and they both cracked within about 2-3 months. If you are careful with handling them, they are still functional with small cracks. Eventually they will break into pieces though.

A: Yes, this is true at least with the last one I bought in September of this year. It just broke in half last night. The previous one I had lasted a few years so not sure why this one broke so soon. Not happy!

A: I have had my grill for many years, and I smoke a lot. It finally broke in two after many smokes.

A: I've had my Vision grill for 5 years and cooked on it on average twice a month - I'm just now replacing my lave stone after it began to crack. By that math I've use it roughly 120 times (24 x 5) before I had to replace the stone. Hope this data point helps!
