A: No, it works well for me right out of the box.
Don’t fold it and keep it flat on a supportive surface.

A: No it does not. This mat provides very gentle heat. It will keep your plants about 10 degrees warmer than what is the temperature in the space and helps to keep your seedlings from dealing with large swings in temperature.

Answer This Question
A: I don't find that to be true. Also, I like the way that Home Depot does business. There have been no reports of price gauging like other stores have had.

A: Hi Bertha, This item is a Buy Online shipped to Home or ship to store item that is the same price. If there is one in the store, it may be a different brand or model.

A: Get heat lamp at home depot LED its low wattage

A: Would return it and exchange for another. This is the third season I have used mine and it is still working fine. Just started my tomato plants with it and it kept temp at 85 degrees with a dome on my starter tray.
by|Feb 23, 2020
A: There's really not much that can be fixed but make sure you didn't trip a circuit breaker first but checking your breaker panel and trying it in another outlet in another room that you're sure it's working.
by|Feb 21, 2020
A: Sounds like the heating element in your heat mat failed. Just return it for a replacement.

A: Yes it can be used with a thermostat. Search for Viagro Digital Heat Mat Thermostat. You plug the mat power into the thermostat and the thermostat into an outlet. There's a temperature probe that gets placed in the soil that reads the temperature and you can set the desired temperature digitally.

Q:can you put orchids on the mat?

Answer This Question
A: It just raises the temperature of the plant about 10 degrees. I use it for my African violets (after losing more than half), and they like it. But I use self-watering pots which keep the soil damp. Orchids wouldn't stand for that. My guess is you'd have to water a little more often because even 10 degrees would evaporate water faster.

Q:Is this mat ridged, or flexible like a heating pad?

Answer This Question
A: It's flexible but not as flexible as a heating pad. You can bend it, but not wrap it around itself
by|Feb 1, 2019
A: It's flexible, but not like a heating pad. The outer skin is waterproof, so more vinyl-y than flannel-y.

A: You can't tie it into a knot but it does lie flat.
by|Jan 31, 2019
A: They work great. They are flexible as far as folding them and such however you can feel the wires inside. I wouldn't try and fold them in half as I think they are too brittle and the wiring might break.
