A: Lesszmore, The VerandaLaFayette 4 in. x 4 in. x 6 ft. White Vinyl Routed Fence End Post, Model# 118676, has openings on only 1 side. As for a post without any openings that is in exactly the same pattern, you could ask a PRO associate at Home Depot about a special order, or you could use Vinyl Decorative Fence Post Hole Covers, Internet #203191646, Model #144215.

Q:can the panels be cut to length needed? can they be used to make a narrow gate?
by|Jan 5, 2021

Answer This Question
A: CVE, While panel can be cut to length widthwise, and may be used as a gate, please bear in mind that altering the panel in any way may void the warranty. We do not have any hardware to suggest to you that can be used for the gate. You'll have to be creative for that one. Just as a side note, there is a coordinating gate: Pro Series 4 ft. W x 5 ft. H White Vinyl Lafayette Spaced Picket Fence Gate, Internet #203454116, Model #144721.

A: Gary,
Unfortunately, each Pro-Series panel needs to be used with the compatible posts. The posts are routed to the exact size needed to fit the rails in the panel.

Q:Can brackets be used instead of the Routed sleeves?

Answer This Question
A: Tony, Our guess is that you already have a particular fence post in mind and do not want to use any that are suggested here. We do recommend the LaFayette 4 in. x 4 in. x 6 ft. White Vinyl Routed Fence posts, Model numbers: 118674, 118675, and 118676. If that guess is wrong, and you are adapting the panel in any way, please know that the warranty could be voided. Other have done this, and we've seen that they use vinyl fence rail clips #144060. As for a bracket that you could use, we'll have to leave that to you to research.

Q:There are two different UFPI responses for cutting a panel. One response says it can be trimmed and another says it's not recommended and will void the warranty. Can we get a tie-breaking answer? Seems to me, unless someone's project perfectly aligned with a panel width, you'd have to trim it.

A: JS, Good observation. Here's the tie-breaking answer: Trimming it widthwise is fine, but trimming it height-wise will void the warranty.
