Q:Are the metal brakets available seperately or do you need to buy the whole kit?

Answer This Question

A:  Whole kit. The post is narrowed at the bottom to fit in the bracket. STD 4x4 likely wouldn’t fit

Q:CAN THIS MT BRACKET BE USED FOR A COLUMN POST LENGTH 100" PRESSURE TREATED LUMBER, WILL I HAVE TO ANGLE CUT THE BOTOM OF WOOD TO FIT THE BRACKET AS IT IS FOR 48" POST?

Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your question. This surface mount is only designed, tested and appoved for use with composite post sleeves up to 48" in height.

by|May 6, 2023

A:  The bracket is made so you can slip a composite sleeve (4 in. x 4 in. x XX in. White Traditional Post Jacket) over the bracket and the post. To accomplish this the 4 in. X 4 in. post is cut down on all 4 sides to compensate for the thickness of the metal mounting bracket, if you use a longer 4X4 post, you will still need to cut down the end so it fits inside the metal bracket. You could then use either a Post Jacket or other covering to make the whole thing have a nice finish. Note: I have put composite sleeves on 8' 4X4s and it can be a chore to get right.

A:  Please NOt. This bracket only use for 4x4 post for mailbox, deck gate, etc. the not supported 100’ 4x4 for column. Do you need use other bracket.

A:  Thank you for your question. The wedge bolts are 1/4" by 3 inches, and should be pre-drilled with a 1/4" masonry drill bit.

              Answer This Question

A:  I don’t think so. You would probably want the post as a template to chisel the end of the post to fit the bracket.

              by|May 5, 2023

A:  No, I don't think so. You'll need to machine down the bottom end of a longer standard 4 x 4 to fit into the bracket. Keep in mind that the bracket is most likely engineered to support a certain length post. Good luck!

              by|May 5, 2023

A:  Yes. You can purchase the bracket by itself and use 4x4x6 or 8 or 10. Do you need only chap the 4x4 tip to fix your the metal bracket.

Q:Can this be used to mount a mailbox? If so will the mail box fit over the mounting bracket?

                  Answer This Question

A:  If you have poured a concrete base ( pad or pillar) you can use this bracket. To mount the mailbox you can simply mount ( screw or nail ) a short piece of 2 x 6 on the top of the post then screw the mailbox to the 2 x 6 thru the holes in the sides of the mailbox.

A:  I'm not sure that I understand the application? I used these for mounting desk post and they worked GREAT! If the mail box is going to be mounted on top of a post and shrouded by some cover material plastic? I'm sure there is a mounting plate for the mail box to be attached to the top of the post. This bracket is well constructed and make a VERY secure attachment. I hope that this information is helpful. Regards,

A:  Mailbox is a great idea put the bracket on top of the post and use fastners to place the mailbox on top of the bracket or get two brackets and put concrete bottom and sit bracket on top of concrete and one under mail box

                        Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your question. The metal boot for the bracket is 8 inches tall, and the wood insert is 40 inches. If the post is sleeved, it could be used with a cable rail system, but we do not have testing available to show code compliance with cable rails, only composite railings.

                        by|May 5, 2023

A:  The metal bracket is about 6 inches high. The 4x4 post (supplied with the post kit) is about 40 inches high. The bracket bolts to the floor, then the post slides in and is anchored with screws through the bracket and into the post. You could drill the post however it is not finish grade lumber. It is intended to be used with a composite wrap kit and finished with a post cap. If you were to wrap and cap the post, then drill through it for SS cable you would have a sturdy and good looking rail system.
