      A:  VELUX skylights are designed for roof application only. Our deck mounted skylights have a pitch requirement between 14° and 85°. The curb mounted skylights we offer, have a pitch requirement between 0° and 60°.

        Q:I need to replace and existing curb mounted skylight. The curb and flashing appear to be in good shape. The exterior dimension of the existing 2 by 4 curb are 21/1/4" by 45 1/4". Will your FCM2246 work with this curb?

        A:  This is not suitable for this application. The FCM 2246 0004D requires an outside curb measurement of 25 1/2 x 49 1/2 inches. Your measurements are very close to the VELUX FS C06 2004D (which is a deck mounted skylight) To determine the proper skylight model for your application, please send any pictures and your measurements to: vcustomer.service@velux.com and VELUX can confirm the product needed.

          A:  With an outside curb measurement of 33 x 33 inches, you will need a custom sized FCM or fixed curb mounted skylight. The "make size" of this skylight should be 1 inch larger than your outside curb measurement for proper fitment. In your scenario, that would be 34 x 34 inches.             Q:I bought a velux model 2222 solar powered fresh air venting curb mounted skylight with white laminate low E3 glass. It is so opaque I can not see out of it. Is there a film that needs to be removed or is this the way it is?

            A:  The white laminated glass chosen will diffuse the light and allow privacy such that you are unable to see through it. This is the characteristic of the glazing and not a film that is pulled off.

              Q:I have several old bubble type skylights I want to replace the dome only. My "curb" is exactly 22 1/2" x 22 1/2" square. The exact width of the existing aluminum frame housing the plastic dome is 25" x 25" square.

              A:  There is no method to just exchange the acrylic dome material of your skylight system. You will need to choose a new skylight. Most bubble style units are normally easy to replace by removing the screws around the perimeter of the curb system. Just lift it off and replace and re-attach. Based on your dimensions, it seems to be a custom size. Consider choose a custom sized VELUX FCM model with double pane, laminated insulated glass. Your local Home Depot can provide you with a quote and lead time too! You will find the glass pane units less expensive as well as more energy efficient!
