Answer This Question
A: You will hear some outside noises with FS C06 2005 model skylight with the tempered glass. If you were to choose the laminated glass model (FS C06 2004) you will reduce unwanted noise up to 25% over standard double pane glass. Fixed deck mounted skylights with laminated glass have a STC or Sound Transmission Class of 32.

A: Hi Victor. Choosing VELUX skylights with laminated glass will help reduce outside noises better than tempered glass. I see that you are using the FS M08 2005 in this example, consider the FS M08 2004 instead for reduced external noise insulation. Here is a link to that product: https://www.homedepot.com/p/202094072

Q:Does this come with a bronze interior trim?

Answer This Question
A: Our deck mount skylights will have a standard pre-finished white interior wood frame, and the exterior has a neutral grey powder coated aluminum frame. I'm afraid we would not offer a bronze interior trim, however you do have the option to special order this item with a stain grade wood interior. To learn more about the special order stain grade option available, please visit your local Home Depot store and speak with a Millwork Associate.

A: Hey Mike, the skylight shown here is a deck mount skylight, and will install directly on the roof deck. The curb of the deck mount skylights is already integrated into the frame, and this model will not install over a pre-built or site built curb.
by|Dec 6, 2018
A: This is a "deck mounted" skylight that sits directly on the sheathing, a "curb mounted" skylight will require a 2x4 or 2x6 curb box attached to the sheathing, then the skylight mounts on top. The Velux website is very helpful with downloadable pdf instructions.
Curbs are necessary for shake and tile applications, if your working with an asphalt shingle, the deck mounted are preferred for their low profile.

A: Hey Rick, you are correct the FS D06 is the current replacement model for the FS 156 skylight. I'm afraid our residential skylights only come in a "Neutral Grey" exterior frame color, and would not be available in a brown color. The FS 156, would have had an exterior frame color known as "Umber Bronze", and I have been told by several customers the new and old color are very similar, but not identical.

A: No, this product is not the preferred choice of skylighting for an older mobile home with a flat tin roof.
by|May 6, 2023
A: Hi Tiffany. For older mobile homes with almost a flat tin roof, you will want to choose a fixed curb mounted skylight as it is engineered for low sloped environments. As you stated, you will want to ensure that the integrity of the roof is not compromised and can hold the weight of this new skylight.

A: Good morning Mo. Yes, VELUX deck mounted skylights will require a flashing kit. We have them for shingle roofs, standing seam metal roofs and tile/thick shake roofs. When installed properly, your project will have a 10 year No Leak Warranty too! Please speak to your Home Depot Millworks Desk Associate about which kit would be appropriate for your VELUX skylight.
by|May 6, 2023
A: Yes. You do. We have brought and installed more than 50 of these into our houses. The flashing kits is great to use to seal. Otherwise always some problems of sealing correctly with reef.
