Answer This Question

A:  Patsy - Yes, DRYLOK Masonry Crack Filler can be used, if the crack is subject to hydrostatic pressure you would be better off using DRYLOK Fast Plug. Make sure you follow the directions based on the size of the crack you are filling.

A:  Any clear or colored silicone will do the job. The gray masonry crack filler will work as well, you can mist it with water and use a small, flexible trowel to smooth it out. The silicones can be smoothed with a wet finger.

A:  Yes this product will work, mist with water and use a small, flexible trowel to smooth it out. It flattens and smooths out as it dries but still remains flexible.

      Answer This Question

A:  No - Two very different products. The DRYLOK Masonry Crack Filler 10.5 oz. tube is a ready to use acrylic caulk formulated for masonry surfaces. It cannot be used like Fast Plug for active water leaks or wet surfaces. DRYLOK Fast Plug Hydraulic Cement (powder, add water) expands as it cures locking the patch in the crack or hole and can be used to stop active water leaks. DRYLOK Masonry Crack Filler in the tube is not designed to hold back hydrostatic pressure like Fast Plug is designed to do.

A:  If you can catch a day in the 50's or higher, especially a sunny day, I'd say you'd be OK because this products skins over rather quickly. I've done just this on a few driveway cracks but warmer is better. Hope this helps-

A:  Ray - DRYLOK Masonry Crack Filler is designed for use in Masonry applications. It would work but I would suggest using a caulking compound designed for your application.

A:  I believe it remains flexible enough to do what you are asking, just nor quite as flexible as silicone.

A:  If you mean whether mildew will grow on it, my answer is that I applied this to a crack in the driveway a few months ago and I don't see any trace of mildew anywhere.

A:  I'm sure it can once it's cured. Be sure to clean any cracks well. Maybe put a portable heater close to any areas of mildew to thoroughly dry it out first. Good luck.

A:  Yes - Be sure to remove all loose or crumbling mortar first. Vacuum to remove any loose debris and apply. If cracks are more than 1/4" deep, apply in layers allowing to dry per label instructions. Answer This Question

A:  No I'm sorry this would not be the correct product. Check your local Home Depot for the correct product. 3M does make a few products that are in a caulk tube, I'm not sure they would be correct for your application. If repairing a crack in the masonry, DRYLOK Fast Plug would be a good choice.

A:  you want a fireplace mortar , which can also be purchased in a tube.....or fireplace cement mix, depending on what areas you are filling. both are specifically for fireplaces and stoves and are safe to reach temperatures 2000F.

A:  No, this product should not be exposed to high heat sources, such as fireplace inserts.
