A:  Hello Newbie, This return air filter grille is designed to house a 12" x 24" x 1" deep nominal filters. The actual filters frame housing on the back of the grille that will measure 12" x 24" plus or minus 1/16", we recommend the the ducting opening to be 12-1/8" x 24-1/'8". This should allow 1/16" clearance gap all the way around the return air filter grille.

A:  My grill was for a cover for the return air for the air conditioner and held the air filter. Like you, I could not find an exact match so I bought the closest size and we had to frame out the opening again. This was after already having the sheetrock replaced. I like the new grills very much. If you have a good carpenter, it should be an easy process.

A:  This model is a stamped steel return.

A:  Hello Customer, The majority of our grilles the dimensions are listed width by height. The main exception is floor mounted grilles which are height by width.

A:  The long dimension goes vertical.

A:  While it likely can be installed either direction, it's best installed with the long dimension being vertical. Positioned this way, you won't be able to see into your ductwork. Also, aligned this way, the bottom is hinged.

A:  Assuming this is what you're asking, it's a two-piece unit, hinged at the bottom for cleaning. The photo does not show the frame which is itself is sturdy and actually inserts into your wall/duct opening. This grill is more than a simple grill that rests on your wall.

A:  Regret question makes no sense. This filter fits an interior filter-grill.
