Q:We installed Allure Vinyl Plank flooring in our house 7 years ago. Within the last year or so, we’ve noticed the planks pulling apart leaving really noticeable gaps in the flooring. Has anyone else had this happen? Any suggestions how to fix it without taking up all the flooring?

    Answer This Question

A:  Have not had that problem, the vinal plank flooring should have been installed as a "floating floor", loosely or unattached if the floor is glued down, separation will occur with temperature fluctuations. We've had our VP flooring for 5 years and love it thus far.

Q:This floor has a few gouges from things falling out of my hands. Not really happy with how easily this was damaged, but also looking for a product to fill in those (now) dark spots. Is there a specific product you might recommend? Including which color may match? Looking for maybe a wood filler type product, but suitable for vinyl floors, especially this Rustic Maple color.

        Answer This Question

A:  Not in the traditional sense. It has a rigid layer on the bottom that acts as some padding but adding padding is not recommended. It would cause too much stress on the joints and the would probably have separation.

Q:My contractor installed Allure flooring in my basement. In some areas, glue is seeping up through the seams when I walk on the floor. In other areas, the flooring has separated at the seams and is coming up. Since that situation can't continue, should I put down a moisture barrier and then lay floating vinyl plank flooring over it?

          Answer This Question

A:  Bought it about 2 years ago 900sq ft.Installed on A park model trailer.no glue it snaps together locking together little tapping witha block of wood. Its floating floor no barrier needed After 2 year still looks good

          by|Aug 1, 2020

A:  My opinion is you should get a refund from your contractor. Installed in the basement, they should have recommended a vapor barrier and this doesn't need to be glued. It the planks were snapped together correctly, they shouldn't be separating.
