A: I had the same problem. I did some research and found that if you use Gator blades they chop the grass a lot better reducing the changes of clogging. I haven't had the problem again.
A: Mine does too but
A: To: 'Allen' dated Oct 24th - Re:{ O.E.M. Blades don't bag well?} Postscript to Allen, please? - - - you are experiencing difficulties because those O.E.M. standard blades can not provide sufficient pressure or air volume. Needed are the same Blades used for Mulching, as those "Hi-Lift" or 3-in-1, of which I mentioned earlier. Also, obviously, successful bagging MUST be done whilst the grass is 100% dry, as mid-afternoon, never when the least damp AND, with that engine at full (maximum) throttle, utilizing those Three (3) speeds of your selector lever to determine Mower Travel Rate, not slowing-down engine r.p.m.....eli2
A: To try and fix your bagger problem; try reinstalling the bagger system, while at the same time, double check the instructions as you go; and reset your cutting height, can also help, before trying to change the blades. And use the utmost caution when making these changes.
A: To: 'Allen' dated Oct 24th - Re:{O.E.M. blades on 50" TORO don't work well w/ Bagger?} Sir: ...in searching at HomeDepot.com, they did NOT appear to be still available for your Unit? - - - perhaps they are "Out-of-Season" already?? HOWEVER, yes, those O.E.M. Blades are not the very best nor are these well-suited for mulching.... try locating a new set of {3-in-1, a.k.a. - Hi-Lift, etc.} 17 1/2 " long with smooth center hole - - - "tips" of blades should appear as do these @ HomeDepot.com: HomeDepot Model # 561545X Internet #306691874 - pls remember, will NOT fit your SS5000/74731, however......eli2
A: Thank you for your question. We recommend using the same blades the unit came with at time of purchase. Most commonly we find that baggers clog easily when grass is wet. For best results, waiting until morning dew or recent rains have dried before cutting. Toro’s blades that come with the unit are already optimized for bagging so we do not offer special blades for that application specifically.
A: To: 'lisa' dated Oct 06th - Re:{ What are differences betwixt 74731 and "C" Suffix?} Ms. 'Lisa' - - -absolutely nothing!! ...Toro has stated in answering this question earlier that-it was intended to have been a special "Tracking" mechanism for Units sold at HomeDepot.com BUT, totally invisible / concealed from You & I ....they have previously requested H. D. to correct the error......eli2
A: There is no difference. We use the C model for some special tracking on home depot.com and it is not supposed to be visible. Please order model # 74731. Thank you.
A: To: 'Gonz' dated Oct 06th - Re:{ Any Vacuum Attachment for this?} Sir: ....here is One, available at HomeDepot.com & some Stores: Two Bags - Model # 79392......eli2
A: Thank you for question. You will need Twin Bagger model # 79392. You can view it online at https://www.homedepot.com/p/Toro-TimeCutter-Twin-Bagger-for-50-and-54-in-Deck-79392/206734472.
A: No
A: The Models, 74731 and 74731C are similar in design and build. The 74731C was just manufactured at a later date. And by making you aware of the model difference, helps when it comes to compatible replacement parts for your Toro zero turn mower. Because having the right compatible replacement parts, could affect your overall performance of the product. So, keep that in mind when it comes to your maintenance needs.
A: There is no difference. We use the C model for some special tracking on home depot.com and it is not supposed to be visible. Please order model # 74731. Thank you.
A: To: 'GS' dated Sept 20th - Re:{...Differences betwixt 74731 / 74731C?} Sir: NONE whatever!! - - - it was simply a "TYPO" since no such 74731 model ending with "C" exists!......eli2
A: To: 'Billy' dated Sept 19th - Re"{ Difference betwixt SS5000 / MX500?} Sir: ...essentially, the mowing deck becomes one of a Fabricated Construction as opposed to "stamped" on the ss5000/74731 ...the two Hydraulic Drives on the 'MX' are Model ZT-2200 Hydros but aren't readily identified on the opposite by precise Model.....all (4) tires, Engine, Gauge of Frame Metal, Warranty, etc., remains the same ....please be sure to understand that in the "Overview" description the wording "COMMERCIAL" does NOT mean to be that either Mower is to be ACTUALLY used in commercial application "OR" the Warranty is very-seriously reduced.....eli2
A: Thank you for your question. The main difference is the deck. The SS models have a stamped deck and the MX models have a fabricated deck. A stamped or formed deck is pressed out of steel into its shape so it will look like a shell with no seems and smooth edges. A fabricated deck is made by taking individual pieces of steel and welding them together. It will generally have sharper corners and edges and welded seams.
A: Thank you for your question. Yes, you will need TimeCutter SS Foot Assist part # 79010. You can view it online at https://www.homedepot.com/p/Toro-TimeCutter-SS-Foot-Assist-HOC-System-79010/202770979.
A: There are lifts available but they must be rated for the weight of this mower which is more than 700 pounds.
A: yes available at home depot online search for Toro timecutter SS Foot Assist HOC
A: To: 'gab' dated Aug 31 - Re"[...foot lifting for Deck?} Sir: ...although available, it is not one of the Models usually sold by HomeDepot.com or stocked at the Stores......eli2
A: Oh my, you might have to test drive any mower before you buy it. It is a gas powered mower, so it is not whisper quiet. It is no louder than any other big hp motor zero turn.
A: To: 'AC' dated Aug 28th - Re:{...what is the decibel level?} Sir: .....in extensive reading / searching of this Unit's Data both @ HomeDepot.com as well as the internet, I could find no specific reference VALUE...... perhaps, as often seen as one viewes Others at their Mowing Task, you might consider a set of Sound-deading Ear Head sets "OR" even the inexpensive foam inserts? In any case, our new Toro 74731 - 50" seems to be very acceptable w / o any hearing protection needed, as the Muffler on the engine does quiet that exhaust very effectively ....of course, there' nothing to be done about the grass cutting and discharge noise......el2
A: Thank you for your question. This machine can produce levels of noise in excess of 85 dBA. Toro requires the use of hearing protection when operating this machine.
A: To: 'Goat' date Aug 27th - Re:{is there a snow plow for front of ZTR TORO?} Sorry - - -many other Accessories including Top Sun Shade, Baggers, Arm Rests, etc., B-U-T, there can be NO front snow plow.....eli2
A: Thank you for your question. No, we do not have any front attachments for this mower.
A: A lawn tractor would be a better choice for plowing. Even if someone had the engineering skills to attach a plow to the front of this zero-turn mower, I don't believe such a thing would be practical. It's likely that the force of trying to plow would cause the drive belt to dislodge. It is an arduous job to reinstall the drive belt, which requires a lift that can support the 700+ pound weight of the mower to access the belt.
How can we help?
