Questions and Answers for Toro Blue Stripe 1/2 in. x 500 ft. Drip Tubing

A:  The barbs that Home Depot stocks will work. If you're doing much tubing and drippers I highly recommend the deluxe hole punch which runs about $10.00 at Home Depot and well worth the cost. If you are running 1/4 inch tubing off the barbs you will save your fingers by dipping the 1/4 inch tubing in a cup of hot water for 30 seconds or so before before attaching the barb. If I am doing a project with many drippers I precut the the 1/4 inch line at about 18-24 inches and attach the barb at one end and the selected dripper at the other and then just have to do the punches on my knees. This saves a lot of time and discomfort.

A:  We do not currently sell barbed fittings into this channel. We recommend using our Tri-Lock fittings, but Toro barbed fittings for .71OD tubing may be available through a Toro distributor. Thank you.

A:  The proper fittings are: “T” = 53170, Coupling = 53168, and Elbow = 53169. Thank you.

A:  The ½” denotation is a nominal measurement that has been used in the industry for many years. The exact measurements listed in your question are accurate.

A:  It's 1/2" tubing and 1/2" fittings work with it. And there's no industry standard for sizing so that's why. Why is a 2x4 piece of lumber not 2" x 4"?

A:  HI ewl, How cares all fittings that will fit are 1/2" labeled Look at Dig tubing is labeled 1/2" and is .600 ID x .700 OD and to get fussy that is also 3/4" inside dia. So if you look at Rain Bird it is closer to what you seem to want .54 in. I.D. & .63 in. O.D. So maybe that is what you should get as that is the only one that will fit your requirements. But funny thing is all fitting for any of the mfr's all use the same fittings.

A:  Thank you for your question. Draining your system should give it ample protection. Drip systems designed for low-pressure. Applying an extremely high amount of pressure during the blowout process could cause damage to tubing, connections, or fittings.

A:  Thank you for your question. Funny Pipe and Blue Stripe Drip Irrigation Tubing are two different products with different dimensions. Each product has specific connection devices.

A:  This tubing can be used in hot climates.

A:  The blue stripe works well in Arizona above ground, exposed to the elements. Had problems with other manufactures tubing in service at the same time, but not the blue stripe. In my area, we are always on the high end of the temperature range during the summer months.

A:  Toro Blue Stripe tubing is tested under harsh conditions and is used all over the state of AZ. Personally, I find Blue Stripe tubing to be the most flexible, kink resistant, long-lasting tubing on the market (I have used most of them over the years). My personal installation, in the hot Inland Empire area of CA, has been installed (exposed) for 5 years without a single issue.

A:  Hi FamilyJ I lived in AZ Phoenix area for 20 years and used this the whole time and never had a problem and it was laying on the ground. I had almost a whole roll out all year long

A:  The hose will get even hotter if exposed. Bury it and you'll be fine.

A:  The product may work fine for the application you are describing, but it is designed to be used under relatively low-pressure, drip irrigation applications. Depending upon the pressure your pump is generating, it could create failures or “blow outs” at your connection points.

A:  Sure. You can connect it to any high pressure pump just don't exceed the PSI rating that Toro has for this tubing.
