A:  no. the machine thread end is not recessed. To install the wood-screw end into wood, thread two nuts onto the machine-thread end and use a wrench on the outer nut to drive the hanger into wood. The flats on the nuts will not line up, so the wrench has to fit the lands on the outer nut (the nuts with 'lock' and thus to torque created by the wrench will turn the hanger bolt into the wood).

A:  To drive you drill a pilot hole then screw two 1/4x20 nuts on the fine thread and use the locked nuts to screw in the lag thread . Once threaded in, you unlock the two nuts and remove them.

A:  Hi and thank you for your inquiry. Hanger bolts do not have a drive. They are machine screws on one end, and wood screws on the other.

A:  No, the 1/4X20 thread is about 11/16” while the lag thread is about 1”.

A:  My package has an unthreaded gap between the lag thread and the 1/4x20 thread.

A:  This product is 1/4-20 on one end and has a larger self tapping thread on the opposite end.
