Q:My office is hot compared to the rest of the house. Would I use this to push the hot air from computers to the next room, or pull cold air? The a/c unit won't kick on b/c it's set at 74, house is 74, but office is 79.

    Answer This Question

A:  Hot air rises. I would mount near ceiling blowing out of the office. Cold air, from A/C, will flow back in on the floor, via the door

A:  I would pull cold air into hot room. It works great for me. Or put one on both ends of room to create exhaust and intake. You can use a variable plug in fan switch from Suncourt to slow it down or speed it up as I do.

A:  Yes it can be but the grille is not designed to be walked on so be sure to install it away from the traffic pattern in that room.

A:  Yes it can be. The 10ft cord will aleviate the issue of reaching an outlet if one is up the wall a ways in the upstairs room

Q:Can the air flow be reversed? I need the plug side on the the side of the wall with the outlet, but I need the air to go to the room without the outlet (if that makes sense).

A:  No. You hard wire it and face it the direction you want or simply install an out on the other side.

                by|Nov 2, 2020

A:  No, the fan is not reversible. I had the same problem as you. I was able to feed the power cord thru the wall and use a plug in the room I was drawing air from. It worked fine.

                  by|Nov 3, 2020

A:  No it can’t be reversed Why not add an electrical outlet opposite the existing outlet that way you can have electricity on both sides of the wall

                    by|Oct 31, 2020

A:  Yes, that's what I did. It did take some modification the metal vent The outside edge) needs to be cut a little to make room for the cord. Not a big deal if you are handy.

A:  no, I don't see a way this can be reserved. Perhaps an electrician would know if there is a way to rewire, but there is nothing about this in the instructions.

A:  I don't know the answer to this because we use ours more to cool a very small bathroom by circulating air in. But it is like having an 8 inch fan built into your wall with a high and low setting. I would not think it would heat a very large space just from the heat of another room.

A:  I added a Smart Outlet. It turns On/Off via an App (SmartThings), or Voice (Alexa) or by a temp senors I have in the room .

                        by|Sep 11, 2020

A:  Yes. I did just that! You need to have a switch controlled outlet. I installed an outlet up high, right by the fan, that way I didn’t have the wire going down the wall. The switch will turn it of and on, but the high and low speed will still be adjusted by the switch on the fan itself. We just leave ours on high.

                          by|Sep 10, 2020

A:  If you are electrically inclined, I guess you could splice a switch in to the power cord (you would then leave the switch on the fan itself always set to one of the two speeds). Another idea might be to plug it into a switched outlet?

                          by|Sep 10, 2020

A:  You could add a switch on the power cord, if you wanted to. It wouldn’t let you change speeds, so you would need to set the speed setting when you install it.

A:  Sorry you cannot add a switch. Any modification to the fan would also void the warranty.

A:  You cannot change the airflow direction to go back and forth but you can buy a fan blade from Suncourt that will permanently reverse the airflow. Please contact Suncourt at 800-999-3267.

A:  The fan motor turns the blades only one way. But you can position the fan upon installation to move air in your preferred direction. If you wanted to change directions on-the-fly, you would have to install the fan so that you could physically pull it out of the wall and turn it the other way 'round, or you could install two of these fans - one for each direction!

A:  I do not think this fan is reversible. It does do a very good job with air flow. It is in my rental and use in the winter to transfer warm air to the cooler parts of the house.

A:  There are 2 speeds, but it only goes 1 direction. Once the hole is cut in the wall it likely wouldn't be too difficult to remove and reinstall the fan so it faces the opposite direction, as long as you have outlets available within reach on both sides of the wall.

A:  It is not reversible... the airflow only goes one way. But it works very well for pushing cool air into a small room with no air vent. And it has a high and low setting that you can easily switch.

A:  This is a through the wall fan. What you need to go from ceiling to ceiling would be a duct fan and ducts and ceiling registers on both ends.

A:  No. This is Not recommended for venting a bathroom whether it be steam or a smell into another room of the house. For a bathroom you need an exhaust fan.

A:  This mounts in a wall. Not sure exactly what you are doing, but you can install from a living room upper wall into an adjacent room. I installed mine from the dining room into an adjacent spare bedroom, and it works perfectly.

A:  I think it would work just fine for that. I had a sleeping loft built in my den and I put one of these in there so it was well ventilated for the guest sleeping there (or my daughter, who loves it!)
