A: I would recommend finding a 35/3. To use a 35/5 will apparently be out of tolerance for your equipment, and I wouldn't recommend it.

A: there are three contacts because there are actually two capacitors there....that have a common terminal. so you will need to figure out which connector is the common, which is the 35 uf and which is the 5 mf connector...there should be information stamped on there to figure it out.

A: You need to get your AC model number then do parts look up via internet search like:
RUUD XXXXYYYY capacitor
and/or open it up and get the rating off the capacitor itself.

Q:VAC and the voltage on the one you are selling is 440VAC. Is this compatible?

Answer This Question
A: Yes, the voltage rating of a capacitor is its breakdown rating - the voltage at which it will fail. As long as it is the same or higher than the one you are replacing, it's OK, and higher is even better and will mean longer life.

A: I replaced a 370V capacitor with this one at 440V and it worked just fine. With capacitors the maximum voltage is the point where the material inside the capacitor breaks down and having it a little higher does not hurt.

A: They sell most of them that say 440/370 VAC on them, but check the pics on homedepot site, also look at the uF number. for example I just purchased one. 440/370VAC 35uf 5uf, this is what is important to look at.
Hope this helps

A: You don't need to ask this question. You can find out for yourself by getting the capacitance from the old one or from the schematic that you will find inside the access cover or probably by googling your model number. Look for a capacitor that has the same microfads (35/5 for dual capacitors, which have three connections). As long as the voltage rating is the same or higher than yours, it is OK, and higher is better as this is the voltage at which the capacitor will break down, 440 volts in this case, whereas many older ones are 370 volts.

A: You need to remove the cover on your AC unit form the side and look at the label on the DUAL Capacitor to find out what you need to order, its a four screws or so and should have label on the capacitor. That label will have three number to look at and then you can cross reference with Home Depot site to order your part.
Three things to look for: 440/370VAC 35uf 5uf
makes sure these match with your, each AC unit is different but you need to make sure it matches with your old Capacitor, not what I wrote. its very easy after you look at the label, also take the capacitor with your to Home Depot and ask them to order it, if you don't know.

A: Your question is not about the "Packard 440-Volt 35/5 MFD Dual Rated Motor Run Round Capacitor". Look at your old capacitor and get some numbers then look it up at the home depot site. Or go look up your model on google.
