A:  Hello Scott, the shower walls can be cut to size. We recommend using a saber saw (straight up and down travel) with bi-metal blade (14 teeth per inch ). If you have questions on installation, our technical team is here to help! If you haven't already, we want to encourage you to reach out to the Swan Support team at 1-800-325-7008 between 8am-5pm EST, Monday-Friday. We would be happy to help in whatever way we can. Q:What is best the hardi board or green board, and if you use green board do you have to seal ? I know with hardi board you do. We will be taking down old fiberglass surround that was put to studs, so need a wall backing. I'd like to use Green board IF we do not need to seal that? But worried with moisture, we will tile above this surround also so will have green board up full wall to tile that area does not get wet, but want to know any advice on this.

A:  Hey Teressa! Please refer to the "Installation Guide" link under "Info & Guides." We recommend a 1/2 inch moisture resistant cement board or green-board over back, front, and rear wall surfaces of the rough opening, and applying a coat of water or oil-based primer/sealer to all the surfaces of the green-board. If you would like to discuss this further or receive further assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to the Swan Customer Service Team at 1-800-325-7008 between 8am-4:30pm CST, Monday-Friday. We would love to help you. Thank you for choosing Swan!

        Answer This Question

A:  I have had the tub surround up for about three years. In that time I have had no issues with "yucky" build up. I recommend it.

        by|May 24, 2020

A:  No issue with the joints. In fact, the joints are rather hard to detect. I would highly recommend this tub surround. I love mine, you will love it too.

          by|May 24, 2020

A:  Hello Ash, You should not have issues with build up. Clean your tub surround regularly with common household liquid cleaners and a sponge or soft cloth. For hard water stains, scale removers can be used. To protect finish, any fiberglass wax or automotive paste wax can be applied. Do not use cleaning agents that caution use on acrylic, polyester or plastics. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads. Do not use “leave on” cleaning products, such as automatic spray shower cleaners. Prolonged contact with harsh chemicals could have an adverse reaction over time and discolor surfaces. If there is anything we can do to assist you, please reach out to Swan at 1-800-325-7008 between 8am-4:30pm CST, Monday Friday, or at help@swanstone.com. Thank you for choosing Swan!

A:  No I have this for 3 years. No issues with yucky build up. Easy to clean and the look of real tile is great. It is worth the extra money compared to others. You will love it.

A:  The US Department of Energy is clear on this subject: DO NOT use drywall, not even green board. DO use cement board (Hardie or other brands). https://basc.pnnl.gov/resource-guides/cement-board-installed-behind-tile-and-panel-tub-and-shower-enclosures

A:  It’s rather thin, recall about 3/8” thick. But it’s just right for gluing to the wall.

A:  I would estimate the adhesive tub wall is between one fourth to one eighth of an inch thick. just the right thickness for trimming to size and for adhering to the drywall with the adhesive.

A:  I would say yes, although I’m not a professional. Take your measurements carefully, to see if the product fits in your tub like it does on mine. For me, there would be plenty of room to install glass shower door. I prefer a curtain myself. Hope this helps.
