Answer This Question
A: Shower walls are manufactured to keep water from penetrating the substrate material. It does not have to be thick to accomplish this. A review of the material being flimsy is an opinion. Swan products are made from a thermal set polymer, Swanstone, which is a compression-molded, thermoset material with extreme resistance to heat, impact, expansion and chemicals. The material has a limited lifetime warranty. Thank you for considering Swan products.

Q:Can you install grab bars into this Swanstone shower surround?
by|Aug 14, 2015
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: Yes, grab bars can be installed on the SS-72-3 wall kit. It is recommended that the grab bars be installed using a minimum 2" thickness "in-wall" solid wood backing material with #10 x 2" stainless steel, Phillips-head, sheet metal screws or using a wall embedded, minimum 12 ga. steel anchor plate with #10-24 stainless steel machine screws. The grab bar should not be mounted to drywall, sheetrock, plaster, fiberglass, acrylic or "hollow" wall surfaces without appropriate wood or steel backing material. The recommended center-line height is 33" - 36" above the finished floors. Thank you for considering Swan products for your home!
